THE nurse who took her life after a prank call by two Australian DJs left a suicide note where she blamed them for her death, according to a report.
Jacintha Saldanha, 46, left a note in her living quarters near King Edward VII's Hospital in London where she died last December, The Sunday Times in the UK reports.
Ms Saldanha left three notes including one about her funeral instructions and one more that said she did not hold anyone she worked with responsible.
In the letter, which was written to her managers, she refers to the two 2Day FM DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian who posed as the Queen and Prince Charles.
"Please accept my apologies. I am truly sorry. Thank you for all your support. I hold the Radio Australians Mel Greig and Michael Christian responsible for this act. Please make them pay my mortgage. I am sorry," she reportedly wrote.

disclaimer: i dont know if this has been posted, news.com.au just posted this today im not too sure if they're late about this, so im sorry if they are!
my god I would hate to be them
what they think is a simple harmless phone calls ends with a suicide note that blames them utterly for the death of another person
that would be hard to live with
No sympathy for the nurse whatsoever.
As tragic as this all is, it's a bit of a dick move to put all the blame on two prank-callers.
There was clearly other problems if it's a prank-call that leads you to suicide.
IIRC she attempted suicide before this happened, a lot of people when it comes to suicide notes love to be a massive prick and blame someone for their deaths because they know they're going to fuck them up for good, these 2 would be horrified and most likely will be under suicide watch because of it
i still stand on my opinion that the prank call was the icing on the cake and wasn't in fact the whole thing that made her do this

I agree. Nobody kills themself over a prank call without having severe underlying psychological issues to push them over the edge. It is not right to have laid all of the blame onto the radio hosts and essentially ruin their lives for personal problems that she had, because regardless of whether or not having those kinds of problems was her choice (it wasn't), being an asshole and laying the blame on two mostly innocent people was her choice.
Wow, what a sensetive bitch. "oh lol these guys prank called me, i better an hero now"

yeah I'm thinking there was probably a little bit more to it than that

By having an unpaid mortgage she's already given reason enough to have us believe she had other shit going on. She was probably just a stressed housewife who got the final straw on the camel's back.
Did we just go back in a time machine or something?
This is very, very old news.

The suicide note blaming the DJ's as far as I'm aware isn't old news.
Though her death is tragic, she really can't blame the radio hosts for her death any more than the radio hosts can blame the Queen and Prince Charles for the prank call. In the end, it was her fault. If it were their fault, we wouldn't be hearing about a suicide, we'd be hearing about a homicide.
For some reason "make them pay my mortgage" made me giggle a little.
Couldn't help it.
At first glance of the thread title, I thought that the conversation that took place during the prank call led the nurse to commit suicide on the spot or shortly thereafter.
However, after listening to the prank and realizing that she literally said only 2 sentences to the prank callers, along the lines of "Hello" and "Hold on", and then forwarded the call to someone else, I am beyond puzzled at how that was the 'last straw' before ultimately committing suicide.
I'm aware that she previously attempted suicide and was (or possibly was) on antidepressants. It just seems something much worse lead her to kill herself, something that the general public is not aware of without the context of her life prior to and after the phone call.
Either way, I feel sorry for the prank callers. Being blamed for suicide after only speaking to someone for 5 seconds must feel like shit.

I never felt sorry for her in the first place, that definitely doesn't help her case one bit or give anyone a reason to feel sympathy towards her.
What the hell is wrong with all of you.
She was under a lot of pressure already and then was publicly humiliated like that which drove her to suicide. And all you can do is "IT WASNT THAT BAD WHAT A STUPID BITCH I DONT FEEL SORRY FOR HER". Have you fucking idiots been so long stuck in your room outside human contact that you have forgotten what is empathy?

I don't see how you would be publicly humiliated by that call, everybody that was listening to that radiostation at the time probably didn't even know who she was or would've even cared about who she was.

The problem is the entire lack of context about what happened directly after the call.
In one of the articles, it stated that she, a nurse, answered the call instead of a receptionist. She essentially broke patient confidentiality and did not even inquire at who was calling.
Consider if her boss found out and gave her hell for it, or if she was publicly humiliated for putting the prank call through; she would have every reason (in her own mind) to commit suicide, especially after several previous attempts.
The problem is, we don't know what was happening in her life just before and after the call.
To be fair if you had a chance to blame someone you didn't like in a suicide note and hold them accountable most of you would. Not sure that I'd ask them to pay my mortgage though haha.
The whole situation is fucked up. I can see how someone couldn't handle the pressure of the world's media and audience laughing at them but punishing the radio hosts with the burden of having caused someone to die is horrific.
I wouldn't want to live after being publicly and massively humiliated either, but that's just me. (But nor would I act on such a feeling)
But I know as everyone else has said, that was more than likely just the piss icing on the shit cake.
The thought of being under so much stress with life problems, and THEN being so publicly humiliated on TOP of that... I can't even comprehend the feelings. I would never touch the outside world ever again, because I know everywhere I go I wouldn't be able to escape from it.
Should she have blamed them? No, they didn't cause her those life problems, nor could they have known that she was close to suicide anyways. I bet if they knew for some strange reason they wouldn't have done that prank call.

no sympathy whatsoever? i mean yeah i don't blame the DJs for the suicide either but you don't feel even a little sorry for a woman who killed herself after being made a fool of internationally?

She's blaming two pretty much innocent parties in this for her oversensitivity. She's effectively ruined the lives of her family, friends, and even moreso the DJs involved in this.

Why not? Isn't like they can complain.

I find it hard to believe she killed herself over being made a fool. She was on anti-depressants, and has tried to kill herself before.

lol so we feel more sympathy for the DJ's that drove a woman to suicide after embarrassing her on an international scale and profiting from that embarrassment than for the women who was ridiculed around the world and ended up killing herself because of it? it was an irresponsible and poorly thought out move to condemn the DJs in her suicide note but keep in mind; she was fucking suicidal. saying "what a dumb/insensitive/cruel bitch" is like blaming someone thats bipolar for being emotionally unstable. it was a bad decision and she's hurt the DJ's but at least the DJ's aint dead, and seeing as so many people are calling a dead woman a stupid bitch in defense of the DJs i think they'll survive

yes surely international ridicule and embarrassment had nothing to do with pushing her over the edge
