I've been looking for new 95W AMD Cpu's to replace my current. I have an AMD Athlon II X4 645 3.1GHz Quad right now, and the motherboard supports up to 95w, so that really is my only limitation other than it being AM3
So far, I have been looking closely at the AMD FX-6100 which seems like a huge step up from an Athlon

but I've been skeptical because it's not listed on my motherboards supported CPU's.

However in theory it should work right? Anyways, if you have any suggestions on what to get, I'd appreciate it very much.
Wow, I never noticed it was AM3+. This whole time I thought it was an AM3 processor. Welp, there goes that idea. What do you think of the Phenom II X6 1045t?

thats was my plan b
The phenom IIs perform adequately, but they are very dated.
It is strongly suggested that you look into LGA 1155 sockets if you have the money. Even an ivy bridge i3 will outperform phenom IIs in most applications, and i5s/i7s just outright destroy them.
Unfortunately, an average Joe like me can't afford an Intel processor. $200 would be max, maybe a bit over with some time so I can get one, but then I'd need a new motherboard and possibly even a new GPU as an i5 or higher with a 460 just ain't right.

So 1045t it is then? If so I'll buy it next month. However if there is a processor a bit better for a little more or maybe even less money, please let me know!
460s are beasts. Not a high end card anymore, but they have stood the test of time.
This is a comparison between a slightly better processor than the one you are getting (I think), and a previous generation sandy bridge i3 at a lower clock rate. You can currently get an Ivy Bridge version of the i3 at a higher clock rate, and it will perform even better because it's a more recent generation. If you add on a mid range mother board you are looking in the low - mid 200 dollar range for everything you need.
Performance wise this will be a little better than your AMD selection, but the critical difference is that you have progressed to the LGA 1155 socket. This will allow you to upgrade into an i5 processor very easily should you need/want to.
The AM3 socket is nearly dead. If you do get the AMD processor, understand that this is realistically the absolute best that you are going to get out of that motherboard. Your next upgrade will mandate a new board.
Perhaps I'll wait a bit, the 1045t is quite appealing but the LGA 1155 is even more appealing. The only cutting factor is I can get the 1045t now with a huge performance boost, or get an LGA 1155 processor (and motherboard) with an even bigger boost. I have a birthday coming up fairly soon, so maybe I'll ask for the 1045t then and get the whole LGA 1155 after I've earned a bit more money.
I'd seriously just save up the cash and buy a decent Z77/Z75 and an i3 eventually ( or an i5 ).

I'd ask for an i5 or an asrock z75/z77 and then maybe when you get the cash get the CPU and enjoy.
