So I'm planning to build this really fast PC on a budget of $800, using combo deals from Newegg and Tigerdirect. It should run most games maxed on 1650 x 1080, and I use Cinema 4D / other programs which use all 8 cores to render shit fast. PARTS: HDD from my current PC w/ Windows 7 Ultimate 64 I already own an Antect Earthwatts 650w PSU which was about $65. And no, I'm not going Intel, I know the FX may be slower than expected, but for less than $300 there's no reason not to get it, since I'm gonna be using all 8 cores for pro design work, 3d rendering, and video editing. I'm planning to get whatever new gfx card card series comes out december or early next year, should I still bother getting the 6870 or downgrade to the 6790? DISCUSS.
Honestly they are not really 8 cores, they are more like Intel 4 cores with Hyperthreading. Splash your dosh on Sandy bridge as cliche as it sounds.
Aren't RAM modules now cheap as fuck now? (Like 50€< for 8GB of DDR3 RAM) Because these Corsair ones are expensive as fuck. Also no point of having a processor with 8 cores, go for AMD X4 955 or a Intel i5 2500k instead

Get an ASRock mobo because it seems bulldozer works better with them. Well just read this its pretty interesting http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/315775-28-asus-crosshair-giving-biased-results-bulldozer Good luck with your system anyways

Hyperthreading just lets idle threads take a breather while ready threads come in to work. Even still, 2600k is noticably quicker than the 8150. I'd go intel.

Or maybe I should just get a cheaper 2nd 8gb like Gskill or something. I know I'm gonna use all the cores, even though intel would be a bit faster. I'm upgrading from an X2 6400+ anyway. Thanks on the info about the ASrock mobo, I'm still debating which one to get but that looks like it has better performance for some reason.

Judging from the performance the reason they've called them modules isn't because each one is like a dual-core processor. It's because each one is about the equivalent to a single Intel core.
From here. What I mean is it may have 8 cores but performance wise is more like a decent quad core with HT. A real cpu with 8 separate cores should be better than these AMDs, in my opinion.

I'm willing to bet HardwareHeaven did inaccurate testing and the usage of an Asrock mobo is irrelevant. There are people who have bought bulldozer chips that confirm the info given from sites like Techspot, Tom's and Anandtech.

I would like other sites to make some updated reviews, but that dooesn't really seem likely.
Honestly, you'll be fine with a 2500k build.
