(CNN) -- President Barack Obama said Friday he came to Mexico to break down stereotypes between the United States and its neighbor to the south. Speaking at the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, Obama said that too often the relationship between the United States and Mexico is "trapped in old stereotypes," where Mexicans see America as trying to wall itself off from Mexico and Americans see Mexico through the sensational headlines of violence in the war on drugs. "I have come to Mexico because it is time to put old mindsets aside," Obama said. "It's time to recognize new realities, including the impressive progress in today's Mexico." He said it is clear that "a new Mexico is emerging," highlighted by a growing economy, a robust democracy and new generation of youth empowered by technology. "I see a Mexico that is taking its rightful place in the world," he said.
http://us.cnn.com/2013/05/03/world/americas/mexico-obama-visit/index.html?hpt=po_t1
I thinking some guy in US of A jumped over the fence just to break the stereotype's
Nice to hear that another country is coming along slowly for a change.
including the impressive progress in today's Mexico." *whistlecoughzcougheta*
Title reminds me of that south park episode
"I have come to Mexico because it is time to put old mindsets aside," Obama said. "It's time to recognize new realities, including the impressive progress in today's Mexico."
Yeah the cartels, drugs, beheadings, and piles of bodies on highways are quite nice this time of year.
he should have went with an apology to the mexican people for the crimes of the cartels.
It's funny because the cartels live off revenue generated from illegal drugs being smuggled into the US. Not to mention the thousands of guns smuggled back over the border.
He said it is clear that "a new Mexico is emerging," highlighted by a growing economy, a robust democracy and new generation of youth empowered by technology.
I wouldn't say Mexico has a robust democracy by any means.
I wouldn't say Mexico has a robust democracy by any means.
is obama supposed to go over there and be like "haha you guys fucking suck lol what do you own like rocks or sum shit? this place cray lol fail"
I wouldn't say Mexico has a robust democracy by any means.
I have not heard of anything good in mexico anyways, but not with all these drug cartels and shit... I've see it as a ghost town of a country, where people are in poverty by the masses, and the rich are those drug cartels people... crime-state pretty much is the way I see it. Even if you did get rid of the most of the crime, what good is there to even live and stay in mexico in a desert wasteland?
It's funny because the cartels live off revenue generated from illegal drugs being smuggled into the US. Not to mention the thousands of guns smuggled back over the border.
Most of the guns are smuggled in from South America, not North America. An AK47 from some rebel group is both cheaper and more effective than an U.S. legal AK clone.
Yeah the cartels, drugs, beheadings, and piles of bodies on highways are quite nice this time of year.
I see the media has succeeded in making you think that's all there is in Mexico...
is obama supposed to go over there and be like "haha you guys fucking suck lol what do you own like rocks or sum shit? this place cray lol fail"
"honestly I'm only here because my pr guy made me go."
Fuck the middle east, if there was ever a country more deserving of US troops and bases it would be Mexico. Just goes to show that the US really has it's priorities in order.
I see the media has succeeded in making you think that's all there is in Mexico...
I naturally just assumed Mexico was some of Mad Max-esque apocalyptic wasteland by now.
I naturally just assumed Mexico was some of Mad Max-esque apocalyptic wasteland by now.
Is it bad if feel the thought of an country going official as the Mad Max-esque Wasteland of the world and sticking to it would be cool as fuck? A bit like a real life Oify section of the world
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if one of he cartels managed to take Obama hostage while he was there.
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if one of he cartels managed to take Obama hostage while he was there.
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if anybody managed to take any US president hostage at any time.
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if one of he cartels managed to take Obama hostage while he was there.
The cartels wouldn't dare, it's obvious that if they tried something like that they'd be dead within a week
I naturally just assumed Mexico was some of Mad Max-esque apocalyptic wasteland by now.
It actually is. I can give you some photos if you are interested. (I'm mexican btw) About dealers, murders and mercenaries here. They don't attack you unless you make business with them or you work for them or you have friends who knows about them.
highlighted by a growing economy, a robust democracy and new generation of youth empowered by technology
This sounds weird
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if one of he cartels managed to take Obama hostage while he was there.
They are criminals but I doubt they'd be that stupid.
Imagine the shitstorm that would happen if one of he cartels managed to take Obama hostage while he was there.
Going to war with the US Government is bad for business.
lol youth empowered by technology more like drugs and grenade launchers
