Hello everybody,
I come to you all today to ask a question that iv been wondering for a while.
I play tf2 a real light game and I currently play on an hp laptop. It decent but not the best. I'm young and don't really know what's what in the pc building world. I wish to purchase a **PRE BUILT** gaming pc (tower or laptop whatever) to play tf2 with a minimum frame are of about 200 on max settings. Price wise I would like to keep it under 1k (including moniter and sound system). Now this may seem like a stupid thing to ask but is it possible and if so can you show me what the best options for my conditions are :)
Nobody is going to recommend you a prebuilt because 99.999999% of the time they're overpriced gimmicky ripoffs.
just make your own pc you'll save money and get a better rig. if you can assemble a $30 lego set, you can build a pc. hold on i'll draft one up for you real quick.
EDIT: Click here for my draft http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/73dBhM
Durable mobo, 8gb of faster than average ram, 2tb of hdd for installing windows and holding your porn, a GPu that'll run tf2 maxed out at 1080p, and one of AMD's nicer cpus, all for $928 canadian dollars.
Doesn't include a windows key, but you can get a win7 key for like $60.
EDIT2: its 832 USD. You could easily buy a win8 key with it and still be good lol
That's not a very good build... hop on down to the PC builder section and we'll through together some builds
Tf2 will run on almost anything that could be considered 'gaming' from the last 5 years or so. A $500 build would serve fine.
Natalie, 200 fps will cause screen tearing unless you have a 200hz monitor (non exist). Come down to the PC building section.

Not always, I sometimes run games way above the 60FPS mark and get no screen tearing. Probably depends on your graphics card.
I limit CS:GO to 120 fps because my GPU will overheat and I see some tearing. That's why I'm buying a 120hz BenQ monitor

TF2 runs at the engine frame limit on my 60hz monitor and i get no tearing.
OP, building a PC is seriously not hard at all. there's tons of videos that you can use to help. Hell, I built my first PC at 11 years old.

So, last month? :v:

That was rather uncalled for, what's gotten up in your grill recently?
PC building is a major pain in the ass if you buy a shitty case.
Grab a fairly good case. Note: good does not mean expensive.
I just built a machine for my brother yesterday, we grabbed a Bitfenix Merc Alpha for 37€, and I'm probably going to buy one of those cases for myself next week, it's absolutely brilliant.
Corsair 750D or bust.
As long as it has built-in stand-offs for the motherboard, and some way to hide cables behind the plate that the motherboard attaches to, it's fine by me.
Both the Bitfenix and Corsair 750D cover that.

Sorry, I was just trying to be funny. I'm in a lot of dental related pain right now so it's probably affecting my posting quality. I'll lay low for a bit.

Man teeth problems suck. Hope you get better soon.

I can't even describe how bad that PC is, for that price you could be getting so much better parts. Seriously, if really refuse to try build it yourself then pay someone to do it for you.
Another option would be to buy a shopbought non gaming desktop with i3 or i5 (make sure its full height) and put a 750ti inside it. Fast, cheap GPU that doesn't need PCIE power to run.

The 750ti does need pcie power. The 750 does not.
Some 750Ti models require power other than what you get out of the PCI-E slot, some don't.
Ah yes. I've been dealing with the full size ones so long, I forgot about the half sized Ti's
The 750ti does need pcie power. The 750 does not.
Most of the 750tis don't need power connectors. As for OCing, someone with this little technical knowledge isn't going to worry about that.
Anyway, even a 750 non ti + i3 prebuilt will fart over that FX+GT630 combo.
Just about every manufacturer makes one with both power and not. So it's almost split 50/50
Are 200 frames minimum even possible in TF2? I'm playing at 1280x960 resolution, directx8 and chris' maxframes config and my fps still drop to a little bit more than 125 (which is totally okay).
I'm using an i5-2500k @ 4x4GHz, a GTX760 and 8 gb ram.
(If you want it reeeal smooth, then I also recommend using a 120Hz monitor, it feels like the difference between 60 and 120 fps.)

It's possible in vanilla tf2, I used to do it at 1920x1200 with a GTX 460. However once they started vomiting cosmetics left and right, performance started tanking big time. My friend who plays on a crappy Acer laptop with Radeon 4250 graphics went from being able to play on lowest at 60fps to being unable to do anything because he gets 15 over the course of four years.
