• Marijuana Users Are Safer Drivers Than Non-Marijuana Users, New Study Shows
In a recent study, 4AutoinsuranceQuote.com, a national quote provider for online car insurance quotes, cites a strong correlation between traffic-related accidents and marijuana use. The study, which looks at statistics regarding accidents, traffic violations, and insurance prices, seeks to dispel the thought that “driving while stoned” is dangerous. In the study, 4AutoInsuranceQuote.com points out that the only significant effect that marijuana has on operating a motor vehicle is slower driving. 4AutoInsuranceQuote.com says, while referencing a study by the US National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), that driving slower “is arguably a positive thing” and that driving under the influence of marijuana “might even make you a safer driver.” A similar study by the NHTSA shows that drivers with THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) in their system have accident responsibility rates below that of drug free drivers. In fact, a recent study shows that use of medical marijuana has caused traffic related fatalities to drop by up to nine percent in states that have legalized its use. This study, titled “Medical Marijuana Laws, Traffic Fatalities, and Alcohol Consumption”, conducted by Mark Anderson and Daniel Rees in November 2011, shows that increased marijuana use amongst adults has decreased alcohol related traffic deaths in said states. This study provides solid evidence that marijuana is not only a safe substitute for alcohol, but it also makes for more safer drivers.
http://www.prweb.com/releases/prweb2012/4/prweb9375729.htm I heard about this super rich kid on the east coast who was being charged with Operating While Intoxicated, and he was cleared of charges because his lawyer (kid was rich and got a really nice one) could somehow prove that driving while stoned wasn't impairing.
Yeah, the mentally-impairing drug totally makes you drive better. Definately. Drunk driving is even better, right? it impairs you even more.
Soon the government is going to force us to get high before we drive.
It's probably because you're super focused on not fucking up because you don't want to get caught.
Yeah, the mentally-impairing drug totally makes you drive better. Definately. Drunk driving is even better, right? it impairs you even more.
lol nevermind anything they said based on your shitty opinion they should do X
Soon the government is going to force us to get high before we drive.
It'll at least make sitting in traffic more enjoyable experience:v:
Yeah, the mentally-impairing drug totally makes you drive better. Definately. I'd wait for more than 1 study to draw a conclusion on this.
Definately.
It could go either way if you ask me. If it were me I'd probably drive a lot more cautiously if I even had a car, but then one of my mates drove like a dickhead when he was stoned
I'd wait for more than 1 study to draw a conclusion on this.
Well, my states supreme court just said the same thing so.....
The ruling comes on the heels of a 2010 ticket that was issued to Rodney Koon. Koon was pulled over for going 30 miles per hour over the limit. When asked, he admitted to smoking marijuana five hours before driving, and showed the officer his certificate which allows him to legally smoke marijuana in the state. However, he was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of a drug when he tested positive for THC. Koon appealed the charge, and it made it all the way to the state supreme court. Michigan's medical marijuana law states that users cannot be "subject to arrest, prosecution, or penalty in any manner ... for the medical use of marijuana." They also did not prove that THC had impaired Koon's driving.
http://jalopnik.com/michigan-supreme-court-says-medical-weed-users-can-toke-509283059
A sudden marijuana legalization; in a year of time; decrease in traffic accidents - traffic accidents won't suddenly stop happening from one factor of marijuana smoking, so this survey is retarded. It's like that awesome-depicting image about "world piracy influences global warming". Same shit, different name.
"a recent study shows that use of medical marijuana has caused traffic related fatalities to drop by up to nine percent in states that have legalized its use" I find it crazy that THC consumption alone could be attributed to that.
It's probably because you're super focused on not fucking up because you don't want to get caught.
Pot always acted like a super focuser for me. Of course there's a level where it's just plain fucking high and then there's a level where you are just kinda stoned.
It's probably because you're super focused on not fucking up because you don't want to get caught.
Well unless your car reeks like weed they can't really do anything except try and get a search out of you over "probable cause", which they will probably get just by twisting your words, and leading you on until you admit something by accident or out of fear. They like to act like they "know what's up" and then try to make it seem like by admitting something sooner you're making it easier on yourself. Actually even if it reeks, I'm pretty sure they need to prove something beyond their personal sense of smell before they tell you that you have to get out and submit to a search. Contrary to what you might think however, it is not illegal to be high, to my understanding it is only illegal to possess the drug. On the other hand I do have a friend that was supposedly brought in for possession of mushrooms when they were in fact in his stomach. But that might have just been something they vaguely threatened him with to make him admit to something else (or perhaps he ate them right in front of the cop). So in short it's harder to get stuck for driving high than you think, just don't keep weed with you if you are worried about it being a problem.
Or just keep it in the trunk or locked compartment and tell the cops to get a warrant.
bad survey correlation does not equal causality another one of those bias "marijuana is saviour drug" studies i wont deny cannabinoids have some positive side-effects but this doesnt provide any real evidence besides some causality stuff aimed at giving marijuana advocates justification for driving under the influence, which is generally not a good thing
Cool a site is reporting a summary of information that another website summarized from other articles. Then if you actually read into the studies the statistics do not back up what the initial site says. A bunch of stretched truths from lack if data analysis. Plus they try to insinuate that driving high is safer than not driving high, which is absolutely ridiculous and not the point of the studies at all, which were meant to show it was safer than driving drunk. Pretty much everything about this is sensationalist BS
Or just keep it in the trunk or locked compartment and tell the cops to get a warrant.
They'll just battering ram the door down without the mayors permission anyways! Wait shit this is real life, wait shit, it IS real life!
I can confirm this from personal experience. Ever since they took my license for driving stoned, I haven't endangered anyone with my vehicle

Also I can't be the only who noticed that the OP posted two threads about pro-drug studies that are not new, right?
It's not that hard but people should practice away from people at first.
THC does impair your driving.. but not in one joint's worth. We're talking .9g worth to get impairment. Again, this isnt the same for all people much like alcohol http://blutube.policeone.com/police-news-videos/2178927914001-stoned-drivers-test-their-skills/
Of course, because they aren't actually moving.
maybe this has to do with marijuana possession being illegal and getting pulled over by a cop and searched is a bad thing if your carrying
I think what the study is saying is that drink driving has decreased due to the legalisation of pot, not that it makes you a better driver, just not as bad as when you're drunk.
"shows that increased marijuana use amongst adults has decreased alcohol related traffic deaths in said states."
I've known this for a long time, i was driving with my dad and he decided to light up a joint of really high quality weed. He then had me going 50 in a 65 because he thought i was going way too fucking fast, and didn't want to get pulled over.
Out of curiosity, how many of you in the thread have driven high, besides the ones who already said so?
a recent study shows that use of medical marijuana has caused traffic related fatalities to drop by up to nine percent in states that have legalized its use.
Just like how the decrease of pirates causes global warming
Next study: Legalizing Marijuana will bring world peace.
