• How to get name of WIFI card?

Ok, I need to update drivers on WIFI card, but I can't find a way to get it's specific name. I know that it is ASUS PCI WIFI card, but I need to get it's name to be able to find the drivers. I don't have the box nor any manuals around. Is there any way how can you tell the model of card somewhere in Windows? [editline]08:48AM[/editline] And I found no useful information on cards surface.
Cointrol panel, System, Device manager
Cointrol panel, System, Device manager
ASUS 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Card. I already knew this. As far as I know the drivers are dependent on the model of the card. Any ideas?
If you're on Vista try going on Windows update and click view all updates, most of the time Vista will find updates for wireless cards
Too bad you need internet to get drivers which make you able to get to internet [editline]10:13AM[/editline] As far it looks like the solution will be installing Linux

You could look up the device ID & vendor ID on www.pcidatabase.com.. You can find the ID's by opening device manager -> Click properties on the card (doesnt matter if its a question mark or not) -> go to Details and select harware-id's in the drop down... Take note of DEV_XX and VEN_XX where XX is numbers.. enter the numbers on pcidatabase and you should get a devicename
Is this what the card looks like? If so it's either the WL-138gE or WL-138 V2. All the other ASUS wifi cards have their names printed on them according to the pictures.
can you really not be bothered to take 5 minutes to open the computer up and scan the card for a model name

However problem was been solved sooner by installing linux. No more advice needed.
No, linux is even worse with the WIFI drivers..
The only reason is because the chipset/hardware manufactures are usually awful with providing linux drivers (use google before you buy) Protip: Most of the hardware comes from the same place and is then re-branded, so an "Asus" card could be one of many chipsets, they don't make/design them.
