Google Inc. is set to unveil its new U.S. wireless service as early as Wednesday, pushing the Internet giant further into telecom and injecting fresh uncertainty into a wireless industry already locked in a price war.
In a key development, the service is expected to allow customers to pay only for the amount of data they actually use each month, people familiar with the matter said—a move that could further push carriers to do away with lucrative “breakage.”

As previously leaked, the service is said to run on Sprint and T-Mobile's networks, and only work on the Nexus 6 (above) at first; the phone is expected to be able to switch between the two networks depending on which signal is stronger.
Very excited for this. Hopefully this will be sort of a google fiber kind of a deal and put pressure on carriers.
Also, it's going to be unveiled on the nexus 6 so hopefully I'll be able to try it out.
Also, data over wifi, yum.

If you have Sprint or T-Mobile Service in your city, you should be good.
Trust me, I was very happy when I found out they weren't pulling another fiber.

Could do with this atm, considering the Telstra network has failed us when we need it.

Telstra's plan to turn phone boxes into wifi hotspots is genius, there's so many phoneboxes around my area so it's one of the few things im happy about in regards to telstra
PAYG data seems kinda shit tbh. I'd rather pay a monthly fee for unlimited.

Meh, two of the worst covering providers at the moment.
Better than Google going on their own, but still.
Google's next stop
World Domination
Gotta love that Horizontal integration. Smells like developing monopoly.
I hope the prices are good because i'm gonna have to start paying my own bill soon and I want to find something that isn't to expensive. I hope Googles service really takes off though, seems like it has pretty good features so far like the pay for data usage.
It'll be $20 a month, then it's $10/GB. So 1GB/month is $30, 2GB is $40, 3GB is $50, etc. Not exactly cheap, but you get a refund for the data you don't use, so I guess it'll depend.
