"..and Windows 7 was my idea."
Um, what? Does anyone else not understand this, where does it come from?
Please, someone explain.

Rated you bad reading. Read the first line.
I'm talking about the Windows 7 ads running the the UK at the moment, I assume they are similar for the US.
It means they supposedly added to Windows 7 based on consumer reports of the past, I think.

is this implying it's a new feature of 7 that the taskbar now lets you see shit you have open? or the previews?

Are they saying some women like to take credit for things they only had a vague concept of and didn't help create?
She said it was her idea, she didn't say she made the whole thing.

Yeah but she's saying she caused Windows 7 to happen :P
I still don't understand how the new taskbar is supposed to be easier to use. I guess if you're picture oriented and you like to click like mad it might be.

Better than XP, which looks like it was designed by Fisher Price for toddlers.

That's just the theme. The functionality of the XP/Vista taskbar is much better than the Win7 one.

I like the 7 superbar more than XP/Vista taskbar.
Although I do hate how the Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 causes every tab to be a window on its own.
I think it's just trying to say that the public's ideas helped windows 7 become what it is.

This, I don't really mind seeing previews of all the tabs but it bugs me to see the firefox icon indicating multiple windows.

Reduce hover time for the previews and you are sorted

Also yeah these adverts are dumb. The one I saw was going on about how he could stream music from his PC to his TV, and I think that was it. Not the best selling point to use in an advert

I thought you were talking about a mac ad attacking windows saying they stole their ideas from us so it was more like our idea type of thing. You weren't really that clear.
She's the ideas guy.
There's some really messed up ads nowadays. See the Droid commercial yet? I was in awe. Then they showed the phone. Then I was like "WTF?!"
I didn't think the ad was all that bad.
Why even advertise for Win7. If you haven't been living under a rock for the past 6 months you would know about it.

This. ^
Windows 7 sells itself.

Because not everyone reads tech websites and pays attention to beta releases and RCs of every OS like us nerds do. You are forgetting about the older demographics that basically only know what they hear about on tv or the news.
As for the ads, I think they work. They state a problem that was had with vista/XP and show how it's been "fixed" in 7. It's more of a defensive campaign though, unlike apple's ads. Which come of way less smug, because all apple seems to be able to do these days is run a smear campaign. I bet they'd get way better results if they played their os up more, and didn't even mention Windows, sort of like the iPhone ads.

also people that just aren't interested at all.
If you ask me, those adds make Windows users look fucking retarded. Especially that dumb chick in the coffee shop.
