It's definitely more straight-up fun to watch than DOTA.

The problem with watching MOBAs is that I never know what is going on. Counter Strike is easier to digest for a casual observer.
Its ok but it's probably the least interesting esports fps imo. I like watching quake and ut more.
Counter Strike is probably one of the slowest paced e-sports I can think of, not exactly what I'd prefer to watch
And it's still fundamentally broken 'cause the devs are too busy adding item features rather than look at all the faults of the game itself.

Those two are completely different from CS though. Quake and UT are heavily focused on individual skill and reflexes, while CS is mainly about teamwork and strategy. It's like comparing fencing to football.

not true
not true
The servers literally seem to utilize RNGs, the hit regristration is god awful for a 2010+ game and there are countless bugs that render even the main menu unusable. Go check it.

I'm not implying it is perfect, but the devs DO spend more time fixing the game rather than adding item features, mainly because they do NOT do the items, they just periodically release the best community skins and that doesn't take more than two days of full work I'm pretty sure.
It can get way more exciting than MOBA's because a comeback could happen pretty much any second.
Whereas a LoL or DOTA match can snowball too hard.
The problem with watching MOBAs is that I never know what is going on. Counter Strike is easier to digest for a casual observer.
Yeah MOBA teamfights are usually one big confusing lasershow until you've learned all the effects of the abilities of all the characters and items involved. There's a few visual cues that are consistent in Dota - like white Masks with a red X on their mouth signaling that the character they're floating above can't cast spells right now - but most spells are designed to match their hero visually, not their effect. Which, to be fair, can be pretty difficult with some of the more complicated spells.
That's why for their big tourney last Summer they had a twitch stream specifically for newcomers where the casters would keep it simple and the (surprisingly civil) chat would answer questions no matter how basic.
I imagine they'll properly tackle the problem eventually, seeing how they've made an insane amount of money with Dota's esports angle last year and CSGO's success is only reinforcing the message that there's lots of growing interest in esports. And I'm sure they'll want to quickly establish a big core userbase before Blizzard wakes up and can get their shit together.

That would explain why they didn't fix the CZ75 meta yet, oh wait.
No, but actually you're at least partially right, they do fix some stuff like what I just mentioned, but some of the stuff that needed to be fixed ages ago is still ignored, like wonky hitboxes in a couple of situations.
Shame that the community is fucking terrible.
Can't play a single game without getting yelled at by some jackass.

Pretty sure you're going to find that in most competitively played games. It sucks, just something players have to deal with.

That's true of basically every highly competitive game really.
LoL, Dota, CS, whatever, if there's a big competitive scene you will get abused fairly often. Competitive gaming seems to breed elitist, perfectionist attitudes.
I could get into watching CS:GO more if extreme mouse sensitivity and twitchy play of pros didn't give me what I can only assume is motion sickness. I don't like being in first person view and not being able to actually control what is going on.
The title.
As someone said already, games like Quake3 are way easier to digest for the casual observer than MOBAs, and they are way more fast paced than CSGO will ever be :v:

Tbh I never had any problems with Doom, Quake and UT communities.
Most part of them were a really nice people.

What? Are you sure you're talking about CS:GO? Most pros play on extremely low mouse sensitivity. That sounds more like UT or Quake (however I am unfamiliar with the competitive scene in those, so I may be wrong).
The servers literally seem to utilize RNGs, the hit regristration is god awful for a 2010+ game and there are countless bugs that render even the main menu unusable. Hit registration in games has only gotten better and better.
Lan play might not have had as much improvements over the years, but god damn if hit registration online hasn't improved significantly.

Mouse sensitivity might have been wrong choice of words there, but whenever I've tried watching any tournament games everything seems twitchy (and jumping from one player to the other doesn't help). Since the guy playing the game wants to cover all the spots he moves around/looks around pretty quickly.
Oh I don't particularly care for watching UT/Quake either though. To be honest this more of an issue that I have rather than something that is wrong with CS:GO.
I've always been fond of shooter games that don't rely on "perks" like in the CoD series.
Original Halos, CS, Gears of War, Quake etc.
The simplicity of how well you can put bullet into other person is typically the attraction to these kinds of games.

thats why you play one of many 128 tick 3rd party servers like faceit, cevo, or even esea if youre good enough

not sure if you're dumb or trolling
I wouldn't mind if we get more eSports tournies in football stadiums. ESL did that last year at Frankfurt, and this year they're doing it again. It's one thing to watch them at home either alone or with friends. It's another if you got roughly ten thousand people around you.
Here's a clip from the first match, after 5 minutes. Listen for the reaction of the crowd. Still gives me goosebumps.

Doom tournaments are fucking crazy. Those are really fun to watch, too.
I wish Natural Selection 2 was this big in esport.

The few times NS 2 tournements are on twitch it is really fun to watch, combining both player skill and RTS tactics.

Eh, I'd say halo for fps games and moba's for rts games are slower.
