Wait, so Minecraft isn't entirely realistic? Bullshit.
i thought minecraft sort of touched the subject that gold isnt really good for tools and armor as the stats in game for the weapons, tools, and armor are complete shit.
i think minecraft sets a bad example to children, god knows how many kids have bloody knuckles from punching trees
game should be banned ay
only the australian government feels this is necessary

Gold tools and armor used to have shit durability and be really weak, but due to gameplay and balancing they made them strong/quick but keep the bad durability

Noooo, why would they do that? I always loved how gold tools against all expectations were unnecessarily realistic.
Obsidian, the volcanic glass, is not resistant to TNT - but is otherwise precisely as cool and powerful as Notch lead us to believe.
Obsidian confirmed for opening interdimensional rifts.
Keep in mind this is the same organisation that told me punching trees doesn't give me wood.
Read that PDF, some of it is badly worded. But I like the intent of the thing, educating kids who like minecraft in how the materials work in real life. Might give them even more interest in geology.
Awesome initiative, using games widely popular among younger generations to inspire children into the elating world of science and discovery is awesome.
Sure some of this might seem very dumb and obvious to us, who are most likely older adolescents or young adults who were at least curious enough to eventually find a gaming forum like Facepunch. But I know this sort of stuff is not obvious to my 10 year old little sister, who fucking loves minecraft.
This is of course, looking away from how much in the shitter the country is with that Abbott guy running the joint.

They're still horrifically useless.
Sure it mines faster than anything in the game, but 63 uses does not make them worth it, especially since you need gold for a shitload of other useful things.
The sad part is this is probably necessary because there's so many brain dead parents out there using minecraft to babysit their children. If nobody told you gold was a soft metal and useless for construction of tools you'd be none the wiser.
Obsidian is used for scalpel blades? That's neat.
Gold really isn't used very much in a practical sense. The amount of gold already extracted and in circulation is more than enough to satisfy use of small amounts in electronics and such. The wastage and pollution that stems from mining it is inexcusably retarded. There is no such thing as "ethical" cold.
