Ukip asks police to investigate the BBC over Have I Got News for You
Ukip has asked the police to investigate the BBC, claiming that comments made about Nigel Farage during an episode of Have I Got News For You might hinder his chances of electoral success.
A Ukip official said they planned to pursue the matter with officers from Scotland Yard, adding the party is "now at war with the BBC".
Journalist Camilla Long, who was appearing as a panellist on the programme, was defending an article she had written criticising South Thanet, the constituency in Kent in which Farage is standing.
"I went there more than Nigel Farage" she said. "By the time I arrived there he'd only been a few times."

Um, no.
You're at war with Hat Trick Productions that make the show. The company who paid Camilla Long for a one-off contract, in which it was HER that made the comments and not from a script by Hat Trick Productions.
The BBC only commissions the show, they don't hire, write or oversee production in any truely meaningful way. They also don't control what people say unless it's edited out later for legal reasons.
HIGNFY and News Quiz on the BBC and every other panel show on every TV channel rips into every party all the time.
Farage showing a hint of how fascist he'd be if he ever got a sniff of power.
As we saw with the election debates, either Farage has a serious persexution complex against the BBC, or it's simply as easy target for all his right-wing nuttier parts of the voters. I'm thinking latter.

UKIP like to play the 'it's us vs the establishment' card as often as they can, and they spin all the criticism they get as the 'political elite and their friends in the media' trying to maintain the status quo and trying to keep out real change!!! Which is of course nonsense but it's working in that it gets around potential UKIP voters questioning the party's ethics, since they can shrug off any allegations of racism, it draws in perhaps misguided voters who are rightly pissed off at the establishment and want change, and it strengthens support they have that already exists. UKIP pretends to be a revolutionary party.
So if one individual, on a TV show that is shown on the BBC says something anti-UKIP, they'll jump right on it, even if they're simply stating a fact, as this woman did, and even if it's not really got much at all to do with the BBC.

I forgot about that line! They used to sprout it all the time. I wonder if they will stop using it after the £1 million donation from The Express recently.

HIGNFY is the king of panel shows, and a national institution of sorts. No doubt that's why UKIP have decided to target it instead of some others.

THOSE NASTY LEFT WING POLICE AND BBC JURNOS/PRESENTERS ARE OBVIOUSLY PUSHING THE EU AGENDA. EULLUMINATI CONFIRMED.
I would have thought proving you were there on many occasions by releasing his itinerary would have been more than suitable.
Farage is a fucking joke.

It's because he wasn't, this is just a censorship attempt because she said something he doesn't like and can't call it a lie.

It's funny because I wouldn't even know about it if they hadn't tried to get it investigated. Streisand effect in full action.
this nigel farage character seems like he wouldn't last a minute in US politics if he's calling the cops over that comment.
Crybabies don't get elected.

I mean shit, the 2012 republican party was calling Obama an anti-American illegal immigrant Muslim who loved terrorism and wanted to steal freedom. Farage would have a stroke if he joined US politics.
This is a bit odd since HIGNFY has often made jokes about Farage. I remember him even being on the show in, like, 2011 before UKIP was as popular as it is now and he got fucking owned through-out

I think it's different now that Nigel is teetering on the brink of losing south thanet, especially as he says he'll resign if he does
I didn't realise such a law existed, did they say anything campaign-negative about anyone else?

Yeah, they ragged on everyone, there's no law against making fun of people.

What is there to investigate? What sort of actions could the police take to look into the matter of Camilla Long claiming she had been to South Thanet more than him? What could they find out? Who would be held responsible?
I'd like to attribute UKIP's recent success to actually being copetent and not floating of ideals of xenophobes, but do they have any self-awareness what-so-ever?

Its not a joke though, its a statement of fact.
And could you imagine what would happen if the public knew the facts about politics and a the politicians?
IT WOULD BE ANARCHY!

Ofcom has some rules stating you can't pass opinion on electoral candidates which the BBC must abide by
