• Please help me set up a custom desktop.

I live in UAE and i went to a shop that builds custom desktops for you and he gave me this setup: core i7 920 processor. 8mb cache gigabyte x58ud7 motherboard. 8 gb 1600 mhz ddr3 1TB seagate HDD 7200 RPM ati radeon 5770 1gb video card. dvd writer reader dual layer etc.... 800 watts psu ATX tower casing. i got all of this for the price of $1700 What do you guys think of this system. Is the price good. Is there something wrong with the setup?? What would i change?? I am a gamer so i want this desktop to play nowaday games and future games cause i want it to last. Please help.

There are guides everywhere on the 'net. Regarding your build, $1700 on a damn system using a 5770. No.
only excuse for buying a prebuilt is for mass deployment or laptops, you shouldn't game with either of those.
way overpriced
Spend less on the processor and more on the Graphics card. I say the Intel Core i5 750 and 5870/90.
I recommend Antec/Coolermaster for case.
Case isn't of the highest priority, just get a mid-range case that has decent cooling. For example i am using Thermaltake Armour+Armor and i have not had a problem with anything getting to hot. It cost me $110.
Why are you getting 8 gb's of ram with a i7, the i7 is triple channel
