This is how successful games should be. Add more content to what's already good. No need to milk out another title every year.
Payday 2 is one of the few games that I'd rather see getting a sequel, so they can start anew and adopt different views. Payday 3 should feature driving from the start, and fix so many flawed things that are still in Payday 2 after all those years, which I think are too important/consequential to fix, and would rather be made from scratch in the next game.
Also seeing how the Spring Break content was disappointing for most people, I really wish Overkill would think about Payday 3.
Oh, and a new game engine would be nice too.

Woo, I love you Overkill! Those 72 euros of DLC are not enough for me, pls make it 300 euros of DLC!

This is still milking nonetheless.

I really don't see how this is milking. Don't get me wrong. I see where you're coming from, but when you're running a business you don't exactly make a lot of money solely from sending out good vibes, and positive feelings. Honestly I would prefer a straight up sequel rather than more DLC, but we'll just have to see what they end up doing.
Thanks Pirate Perfection.
John Wick Sequel DLC confirmed.

I'm not saying the cow is dry, but this is literally milking a product to its last penny.
The game came out in 2013, and will have new DLC's up until 2017.
To me that hits the spot on the definition of milking a series.
Don't get me wrong, I bet the DLC's are enjoyable and fun. Milking is not necessarily a derogatory term.
New content up until 2017? That's quite some time. I wonder how the engine'll hold up. It'll need some serious upgrades, it's already showing it's age + it can get rather buggy. Imo it'd be better to just make a sequel now on a (new) better engine, and port over PD2's content..
payday 2 has been showing its age since it came out the models are awful
there needs to be something of an endgame aside from achievement farming, im infamy 5 now and its getting kinda boring just grinding levels.
they really need to balance out the XP you gain from older missions too. it makes no sense that they nerfed repeat farming missions for good xp/money, but they don't update older missions to actually give worthwhile rewards for the amount of effort you put into them.

the maps were pretty disappointing but i guess we got quantity over quality. i would have rather had a hoxton revenge that lives up to breakout instead of any of the other maps.

IMO the character models for both the players and the npcs are some of the best I've seen in a long time.
I just want a sequel where they can completely overhaul the game's systems since right now, every mission feels like a gigantic slog and never feel rewarding, turning it into a gigantic grindfest for

We need more shitty characters!!!!!

Considering that companies are releasing a game every year with a ton of overpriced DLC, I'd say that Payday 2 was moderate at worst with its cow milking.

Considering they put this shit up for sale constantly (usually 75% too!), it's not that expensive. It's just a lot of shit.
I quite like that you don't need to own a heist to play it, saves me spending cash on one that just didn't impress me. Strangely I've not really enjoyed the paid ones as much as the free ones.
The DLC really ain't all that bad in my opinion. As a rule, I'm not a huge fan of microtransactions, but Overkill puts out a lot of great free content, the base game is cheap and a lot of fun, and everything goes on sale pretty dang often. I got the whole shebang for 75% off, minus the two newest DLCs (which didn't have anything I was interested in anyway) for, like, thirty bucks.
payday 2 has been showing its age since it came out the models are awful
The models are not the problem, the maps are. Some of them look worse than fan made CSS maps.
The DLC isn't really that bad, especially when compared to other games. It may be annoying how often they release it but at least it's only $5 most of the time. I'd really just like them to take time to polish the game, holding a minigun like a rifle, or a P90 like a pistol is still pretty stupid.
[editline]quality[/editline]
Also I'm pretty sure there's no jump animation
My problem with the DLC is power creep and slowly breaking the theme of the game. It was frag grenades to begin with, then grenade launchers, and now miniguns and rocket launchers. I just hope it won't get sillier still in the next 2 years.

they basically announced a flamethrower and an M32 so there's that
Safehouse customization??
thats such a small part of the game that it doesn't really even matter at this point unless they make the safehouse integral
It's still confirmed as in development. I suppose they're committed to it for better or worse after announcing it pre-release.
Safehouse customization??
This would only be worth shit if the safehouse became the main menu (like it seems to have been planned to be). But it's not and wont because there's just so much more shit in the game than the safehouse can actually hold.
Also they'd have the implement some way of getting people into your safe house. Too much work for so little gain.

damn what games you been playing

I find this iffy because yeah, I would rather start work on a sequel. It would be very nice for a new game with a big visual boost, maybe even an engine change, with the fundamentals improved. I want things that Payday 2 has been lacking, like facial animations, the driving they've just added, less stiffness from from the game world, and a completely whitewashed and re-made stealth system that actually works. I think it would also be interesting to make maps with far more size and scope than we've had. Nightclubs like the one in Collateral, for instance. Deeper customization than masks, including weapons, outfits, and things like that. A lot of these things seem like things Overkill isn't interested in doing in Payday 2 because they want to make more DLC content, be it free or otherwise, and they've been strictly adhering to a certain format. Heist DLC with some weapons, mods, 4 themed masks, 4 patterns, 4 materials, and achievements to unlock all of it. Oh, and nowadays, a character pack on the side. I dunno, I guess this format works, but it's stale, predictable, and leaves little room for the serious polishing that PD2 needs. Maybe now with 2 years they'll consider doing some polish work, they are right now calling in many of if not all the VAs to do missing lines and new ones with a lot of excitement and rumors surrounding it. Although considering they just announced a new weapon DLC they seem to be returning back to the idea of the pure weapon DLCs and, god no, please no more weapons.
i guess from their point of view PD2 works, it is consistently in the top 10 currently played games on steam and they are probably making a killing from the dlc, not to mention the millions they made from hypetrain. that and the game is only a year and a half old even though it feels way older.
they could either be doing this and also have a smaller team working on the foundations of PD3, then as the next few years go they can scale up development and get the next one announced as PD2 starts to die.
or they may just be planning some major engine/graphical upgrades in a big patch. a lot of people forget that an entirely new game built from the ground up isnt needed to make massive changes to the engine.
