It's a cheapo at $500, but I'm looking at an AMD Athlon X2 dual-core ql 64. Anyone know if it's a good buy? Design flaws, etc?
rest of specs? and what do you need it to do? im guess the graphics card is a nvidai 8200, also Im guessing you want a laptop for the portability?
No AMD processors suck in laptops. Especially at that price.
AMDs doesn't suck in laptops. AMD is pretty even with Intel in mobile processing.
AMDs doesn't suck in laptops. AMD is pretty even with Intel in mobile processing.
Yeah but except no Turions and Athlons suck ass in laptops.
go a bit higher than $500 and get much better hardware.
AMDs doesn't suck in laptops. AMD is pretty even with Intel in mobile processing.
Actually yes amd and mobile is a no. AMD is great for pretty much anything else other than laptops http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3618&p=10
What exactly are you going to be using it for? If if your going to play a source game here and there on it, amd in laptops=/=decent gaming.
Well, I was going to post a thread just like this but I'll post here instead. Budget: £250 (would push up to £300 if the hardware increase is worth it) To be used for: University, so word processing, internet and such. As far as gaming goes, only source games I play are online and uni blocks ports so they won't work (and I'll just play them when I'm at home on desktop). But I wouldn't mind it being able to play Morrowind, for those days I have nothing to do/too hungover to move. Being able to run Oblivion (even on low settings) would be nice but not neccesary. Thanks to anyone who helps me out, I'm fucking clueless with laptops.
at that price range, you'll be looking at netbooks (10" and under) rather than proper notebooks
at that price range, you'll be looking at netbooks (10" and under) rather than proper notebooks
That's true, but a netbook is probably all I'll need. Could an Asus eee PC run Morrowind? It's the only PC game I care about (when I'll be away at uni)!
my eee 1005ha barely runs hl2 at all low settings if that gives you any idea.
I can't confirm it, but seeing as my 5 year old dell shitbox with awful integrated graphics could run it, I'd guess yes
