The one that I rent from Family Video for $3.50.
The one that gets re-released for full price a year later with all the content and packaged with the title, "Game of the Year Edition."
none of them I am not gonna support a company gutting its own game for some cheap extra $
This is what bungling looks like.
The Standard Edition of Watch_Dogs arrives on a set of sixteen zipdisks sellotaped together and lovingly packaged in a stylishly understated and fully resealable jiffy bag.
Yup, this is the edition for me, let me just dust out my ZIP drive
Yup, this is the edition for me, let me just dust out my ZIP drive
Pft, I'm buying it for the jiffy bag.
Quality PCGamesN Video Game Journalism.
As surely as a watched dog never boils
wat
The one that lets me play the game :downs:
Skidrow edition :v: Seriously though I don't know if I'll even want to play this game, but if I do I'm not buying it on release because I'm sick of all that preorder day-one bullshit.
the hype for this game took a massive decline huh.
Quality PCGamesN Video Game Journalism. wat
I usually hate PCGamesN, but this was a pretty well written bit of satire.
Skidrow edition :v:
Nah, get NoSteam edition. Imma wait for a sale. I dumped the money I had aside for this on my Dota 2 compedium. Level 100, muthafucka.
I don't plan on ever playing it. Call me petty, but I am STILL pissed off about Ubisoft's treatment of the PC platform in the past. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they just up and delayed the PC version of this(AGAIN) by a month, keeping with the trend of their PC releases that weren't Rocksmith(because of course they will release a game with weekly DLC at the same time on all platforms). As well as the PC version just plan not running, resulting in a statement of "buy an alienware/$1000 graphic card/etc, our game is perfect and its your fault your rig isn't awesome enough!!!1".
How about the copy of Watch_Dogs™ that is has been released, reviewed and is proven to be of acceptable quality? Oh I guess you don't offer that...
The one that gets re-released for half price a year later with all the content and packaged with the title, "Game of the Year Edition."
ftfy made borderlands the deal of the year for me, 2 christmas ago.
Skidrow edition :v: Seriously though I don't know if I'll even want to play this game, but if I do I'm not buying it on release because I'm sick of all that preorder day-one bullshit.
This is the perfect example of what drives piracy more than anything. There's people who want a demo, there's people on the fence not knowing if they'll like the game, but then there's people who see pure bullshit and say I'm not paying for that, either because it isn't worth it or they don't support the practice or there's so much content scattered about you'd have to pre-order two copies from two places (or even MORE in this case) to get it all... Or all of the above. [img_thumb]http://images.eurogamer.net/2014/usgamer/xkwxuua59ymp7bnqcbce.jpg[/img_thumb] Or It's absolutely and completely anti-consumerist, and it should be illegal. You made this content that's ready, including extra actual game content, but you're cutting it up and spreading it out over multiple different editions for different prices making it impossible to get all of it unless you spend $400, or pirate it. Which do you think people are going to do? And all that "extra" content, by the way, is absent from the standard $60 edition. I had high hopes for Ubisoft this year. AC4, Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, Watch Dogs, Division. They did alright with AC4, even though flat out said it doesn't need any more optimization go fuck yourselves, they completely changed and ruined Mighty Quest, Watch Dogs is now cut to pieces showing how retarded Ubisoft is becoming, by being obsessed with finding ways to milk money out of nothing, and now I'm scared for the one game I am REALLY looking forward to. I can't wait to be with my friends playing Division, and having a quest pop up for the group that I can't do because I didn't Pre-Order the Emerald edition from Gamestop 82 days before release
i don't even care about the other editions for watch dogs. i just only bought the standard edition because i just wanna play the damn game
Why are you guys so sour about this, buy the standard edition and get the season pass if you want all the content (aka: thousands of one-off DLC that give you 10% boosts and like 2 missions) just like every other game. All of the ~~exclusive~~ skins look like complete ass anyways.
Skidrow edition comes with steel case and statuette? Neato
Why are you guys so sour about this, buy the standard edition and get the season pass if you want all the content just like every other game. You buy a $60 game, then if you want what is on your fucking disc unlocked to be usable, you have to fork over $20 extra dollars? (For only HALF the content in this case) And the Every Other Games you're talking about is what, Battlefield and Call of Duty? Both of them are extortionate but at least you get the 5 expansion packs (That aren't on your disc or even made at release) for a couple dollars cheaper than if you bought them separately. Then there's Borderlands which also did similar. It's a shitty trend but the other games that have done it give you content that you would have to buy to use anyway, well after release of the game. This... This is just reverse piracy. The content is there, it's on your discs, but you can't touch unless you meet specific monetary requirements IN ADDITION to buying the fucking game
As Ubisoft release more games, I seem to lose faith in them more, they seem to just be constantly money grabbing, not to mention they treat pc users like shit.

its not even like the "day one dlc" is huge its literally just outfits, 3 cars and a 10 minute mission
its not even like the "day one dlc" is huge its literally just outfits, 3 cars and a 10 minute mission
It's on your disc. Let's just apply this model to everything Buy a house? That'll be an extra $20,000 for use of the bathroom. Buy a car? An extra $2,000 for working doors. Eat at a restaurant? That'll be an up front charge of $5 to use silverware. All of you guys who think this is something to just *Shrug* at and deal with are wrong, and you're setting a terrible precedent for the entire industry by accepting it

I got the standard edition for 33 bucks from a deal so im not sour at all. I'm just saying that all these editions are just optional, you don't NEED to preorder 3 different copies, just be smart and get the standard edition as cheap as you can and buy the extra content you want separately, its been like this for a while now and I don't know why its suddenly surprising now. If there is one thing thats good about all this DLC, its that it severely drops the value of the standard edition to the point where you can get it dirt cheap if you know where to look, since noone buys standard editions anymore what with all the preorder bonuses and day-one dlc thats floating around.
I'm not, I typically buy all my games on sale or cheap from a keysite. I got the standard edition for 33 bucks from a deal so im not sour at all. It's LOCKED content
It's on your disc. Let's just apply this model to everything Buy a house? That'll be an extra $20,000 for use of the bathroom. Buy a car? An extra $2,000 for working doors. The house, car, and game all work when you buy them. DLC are extras in addition to the base content. You can perfectly enjoy the product without them.
Because it isn't EXTRA content. It's LOCKED content
Its locked content yes, but the content is so inconsequential (wow crappy reskins, a few new cars, and some likely half-assed missions to gain a stat boost to make the game easier) that I don't even want it. If I end up really liking the game to the point where I want more content down the road, itll be long enough to the point where I could probably get the extra dlc via a steam sale or something. Whats happening is you're basically paying a royalty to get all or some the content RIGHT AWAY, just be patient and wait to get it at a more reasonable price.
so i took the chart that showed all the dlc, looked at it and then fixed it to tell you what to buy if you want everything (barring the playstation store exclusive) yeah they really split everything up huh
