me and my friend always joke around about this game because getting through the tutorial was the hardest part since the zeroing is so fucked.
multiplayer is the russian yelling simulator 2011
Great game, it'll give you PTSD.
The game is pretty good. Its made by Tripwire so you know there are bugs in it, but they've fixed it to a point where you won't notice them until you've been playing for a couple dozen hours.
This is the game that convinced my friend to buy two Mosin Nagants and enough ammo to supply a small militia. It is also the game that my friends and I keep referencing, quoting, and generally going back to, to play together.
I once threw a grenade to take out some dudes but the grenade hit something I didn't intend to hit, it bounced back and took out me and 3 other team mates and we lost
I haven't played in a good while. Did Tripwire ever implement offline practice mode? I was disappointed it was never in the game during the time I actually played, since they even had it as an listed feature before the game was even released.
I do remember there was a manual way to do it, but that was a hassle to do.
i'd recommend buying it. Fun game but can be hard and frustrating at first

There is a practice mode but it's inexplicably placed in the Steam Workshop menu and you can only play on maps downloaded from there.
Rising Storm is also on sale, I really recommend both games, they are really fun.
Should def pick this up and RS if you haven't already, its well worth the money.
RS has the best flamethrower ever, the flames actually have physics and fully collide with the environment, the shotgun doesn't have magical shot that just becomes ineffective past 5 meters, and as a Marine you can take a fallen officers katana and go full Tom Cruise on the Japs. Japs can also banzai charge, guaranteed to give you PTSD, and turn their grenades into booby traps or they can run into a bunker with a live grenade and allahu ackbar themselves(the game actually rewards you for being a kamikaze)
Is there actually a way to get Rising Storm separately from RO? I swear there used to be but it's not showing up on the Steam page now.

Nevermind it's back, either that or I'm fucking blind.
Forgive me, but the store page for Red Orchestra 2 is confusing me. Does the GOTY version come with Rising Storm, or are they still both separate?
I'd only get this if you plan on getting Rising Storm too.
--Read RautaPalli's post below!--
It's not mentioned, but Rising Storm is 75% off as well, personally I'd say it's the better game of the two, feels more immersive, that and the asymmetrical warfare makes it feel really good to play. Although yeah, if you get yourself too immersed you may or may not get PTSD.
What a steal!

If you're getting Rising Storm DON'T buy this. If you buy Rising Storm you get all the normal RO2 content also. It's silly that they are still even selling normal RO2.

You can play the rifleman in RO2 if you only have Rising Storm and same goes for people who only own RO. You can play all the maps but only one class. I personally enjoy Red Orchestra 2 more.

Are you sure? From what I've read it's only the other way around (RO2 -> Rising Storm). The store page also says "INCLUDES ALL RED ORCHESTRA 2 MULTIPLAYER CONTENT!"

Not entirely. If you own RS or HoS, yes you will also get the other game's content. However, unless you buy the other game, then you will be locked into playing only the basic rifleman when playing on the unpurchased game's maps.
ex lets say I only own HoS and the map changes to Iwo Jima. I'll be able to stay on the server and play RS, instead of being kicked like other games do because I haven't purchased the content. The downside is that I'm locked into only playing a basic rifleman and the only way to get an MG or SMG is to go out and find one on the ground. So you essentially get the F2P version of the other game when you buy either RS or HoS. Simple solution, buy both of the fucking games because it's totally worth it.

Yes seems like the rifleman restriction only applies to playing Rising Storm maps from RO2. If you buy Rising Storm you get full access to RO2.

The developers FAQ states otherwise. This restriction only applies to playing Rising Storm content from RO2.
Although now that I think about it there is one thing you won't get: the RO2 campaign. But it's basically just multiplayer with bots and not worth it so just buy Rising Storm.

Also RS lets you fight bots offline by default.
2 years...
2 years and still only 2 tanks.
really sucks cuz i bought RO2 GOTY without knowledge of rising storm so i feel kinda gypped :/
like before rising storm was a thing i mean
Most intense multiplayer FPS there is to be completely honest.
just bought this, so far super fun and has intense combat

I also love how they bought out a mod team for a mod that was originally going to be free, instantly halted all content on the mod and pushed it out on us for cash.
Oh also all those wonderful files in the mod showings future stuff that would have been added, tanks, vehicles, bazookas, etc. nah we will never see those, Tripwire needs to make a quick buck!
And of course that douchebag persecution complex owner of theirs.
I went from absolutely loving Tripwire (RO1) to hating them and being completely jaded.
I've been playing this on and off since release and can highly recommend it.
On a related note: Less than a week ago the devs posted a blog stating that they are fusing RO2(Only Heroes of Stalingrad) with the long awaited community vehicle mod(Half Tracks and I have no idea what the Russians are gonna be driving around it)

Yeah better late then never I guess, I just wish content would come out faster but lol you have been able to download the beta and drive the Russian Universal Carrier for months now, they only announced the German one because we have only seen and used the Russian one.
I think Red Orchestra 1 was miles better, that game never ceased to amaze me. But Red Orchestra 2 is also great fun and a bit more fast paced. It's really atmospheric.
Altough I haven't played Rising Storm, nevertheless I recommend this game. Especially if you can some buddies to play with.
