is this actually worth the price?
In my opinion if it was half of that price then yeah, sure.
As a "remake" the answer is: no, it's just too badly optimized and looks only a little bit better than the original. The main game is still a masterpiece, but this game failed as a remake.
It's not a remake, just a quick lil bug fix and that stuff to bring it back in action.

It runs perfectly fine on my PC, I don't know what are you guys complaining for. Quick question... When did pre-order time end?
Not worth $20 IMO, doesn't have LAN mode which also sucks
It runs perfectly fine on my PC, I don't know what are you guys complaining for. Quick question... When did pre-order time end?
...when it became available.
I'm happy paying what I did just for steam integration alone, it may be a bit much but for AOE II I'm not regretting it
Wololooo! Considering getting this for the sake of Steam multiplayer integration, though I haven't had too much trouble lately with the original regarding LAN play.
Not worth $20 IMO, doesn't have LAN mode which also sucks ...when it became available.
It mostly doesn't have LAN mode. You need online to start up the multiplayer, but if everyone is on the same connection, it'll use LAN for keeping things stable. It's still a huge shame though because my local sci fi convention has a lan room on the top floor where the internet can't reach. They probably would have loved playing this for this year's convention.
I'm in love with steam now.

Why have people complained about online issues for this? I played about 10 games last week with my friends online and we never had any problems.
Why have people complained about online issues for this? I played about 10 games last week with my friends online and we never had any problems.
That's great but some people are having problems, including me and my friends.
To anyone unaware of what this game is and who still hesitate and trying it It's got a motherfucking sportscar that shoots rockets in it
Why have people complained about online issues for this? Connection randomly dropping and game failing to sync the players, I believe?
Not worth $20 IMO, doesn't have LAN mode which also sucks ...when it became available.
It doesn't has LAN mode? That does kinda suck. It could be pretty cool for LAN parties and stuff with friends. So... If pre-order time ended when it became available (1 hour ago), then it was available much earlier than that. Pre-orders got the game earlier. I think it was friday and we already had the game available.... Sort of defeats the purpose of actually releasing it today.
Age2HD is more than just a resolution mod They've rebuilt the graphics engine to use DirectX instead of the 2D Chip on graphics cards that hasn't existed in years. All Sprites have been redrawn [del]at double the resolution[/del]* and using more than just a 256 colour palette Updates and Patches will be coming out Steam Workshop for maps, random map scripts and specific mods Steamworks Multiplayer To name a few that I can remember. *Turns out that part was bullshit from an article I read somewhere
^ I'm glad I asked for this for my bday monday :D

I think it's worth the price. It's incredibly fun, and loads of people are playing. The downside is the initial connection issues with MP, but I have no doubts that it will be sorted out. Although when the problems will be solved has yet to be seen.
depending on what comes of the workshop, i think it's worth it! the workshop can do WONDERS to help the gameplay

All sprites save for a few modifications such as farms and the food icon are exactly the same, except not compressed down to 256 colors. Here's a comparison: (Used these images: http://compass.xboxlive.com/assets/da/f2/daf2f4cf-3035-49b2-81bf-e2b0e6268864.png?n=AOE%20II%20-%20HD_1.png & http://www.boekabart.net/aoe2wide/AoC1680x1050.png )
iirc the farms, the water and some of the icons are differnet
Also the cliff sprite now looks like something other than a sewage main leak.
900x600 minimum resolution hmm hope that means it's netbook friendly :)
Wait it doesn't have LAN? Why
*claps like retard* HURR HURR PIRACY HURR HURR HAMACHI HURR
