Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - General Protection Fault crash when I hit login
4 replies, posted
I bought this during the steam sale specifically to play coop with my friend, however when I hit the login button, the game freezes and crashes with the error General Protection Fault.
I have already tried following this tutorial, but it did not work.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Verify game cache, make sure drivers are up to date and that you're using the latest service pack

General Protection Fault is nothing to do with anything like that, its about Ubisoft's Launcher protection stuff.
Try adding the rainbow6 and ubisoft launcher exes to the Data Execution Prevention whitelist (or disable DEP altogether), DEP tends to fuck up things like this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings
Also make sure you have UAC disabled and that you are running the launcher as an administrator.
bump, anyone have any solution I can try? I spent about 5 hours trying to fix this yesterday and no luck.
This happens all the time to me too. And there isn't much between me and Ubisoft getting an angry e-mail.

It wont let me run it as administrator. When I do it tells me the game is currently unavailable because something else is running.
