• Internet Becomes Sluggish When Certain Computers Are Not Active

Whenever my father shuts down or puts his computers to sleep, the internet becomes sluggish or dies completely a few minutes after he leaves. The internet speeds will slow down to sub dial-up speeds and intermittently drop connection entirely for periods as long as several hours. As far as I can tell, this happens whenever he shuts down all of his computers and isn't linked to any specific time of high traffic internet usage. I have attempted to reboot the router by unplugging it, waiting a period of time, and then plugging it back in multiple times. Unfortunately, t is impossible for me to "properly" reboot it through the administrator menu as my father is the only one who knows the password and, knowing him, would refuse to reboot the router for me. My ISP is AT&T and I'm currently connected to the router via Wi-Fi.
It's probably just a default password. Just ask him to give the password to you saying its causing the internet to break or something. Because that's really weird.

He probably won't give me it either since he'll think I'm going to break something.
You can eitherway solve the issue doing a physical reset. If it's no problem to you and your father, reset the router to factory defaults. (Hit the RESET button on your wireless router) It's no risk you break anything and it's all done by technical specialists, so he should agree with you resetting it all to default.
I was going to mention it, but his father wouldn't agree-- it'd reset the password from what the father knows.
