I'm one to usually not care about bugs - but there has been one common bug that has always bugged (no pun intended) me and I asked around but noone really knew what it was or what it did. What is this bug? (Southern Michigan, USA)
Was expecting computers. It's a Beetle

Thanks removing my gum now
Bettle Gum Mmmmmmmmmm
I don't like bugs.
Mr. common bug decided to help me out by staying on a helicopter leaf after running around and avoiding my camera lens for around three minutes Sorry for the unfocusedness, I was trying to take a picture at the closest range possible without scaring the bug away so the focus dial was the least of my worries
Maybe a hyprid bug? Can you take a picture from the back ?

Try communicating with it ...
Looks like a "gendarme" (common french insect)
English version would be the Firebug then, which looks like it'd be one. Especially since it's underside is characteristically red-black, though yours's upside is mostly black-orangeish.
Turn on the grill.
