I played through the (very long) demo, it was fun. The job system and combat are very interesting too, they also sometimes have cute outfit differences between characters with the same job. I'm still not sure whether I'll buy it though, this game is a lot more expensive than what I usually pay for entertainment. The conversion rate is ridiculous too, it's 45.99€ (eShop) vs 39.99$ in this case, so even worse than usually. (The retail version here is a full 60€ here on Amazon, vs a 39.99$ list price in the US.) [editline]11th February 2014[/editline] Other (also reputable) online shops have it for around 45€ at least, but it's still very expensive.
See RPS? That's how you do a title pun.
A Job's application to combat is even more interesting, as characters can equip a secondary Job's abilities to add to their primary one. There was an instance in the game where I took equipped Ringabel with the Spell Fencer Job, but also equipped him with the Time Mage abilities to also give him control over spells like Stop. These combinations prove a lot of fun to play around with, though truly taking advantage of this system will mean increasing your grinding time. Secondary Job abilities are only granted once they're also leveled up. This means characters will be switching Jobs around a lot to earn the best spells, since only primary Jobs earn EXP in battle.
This is close enough to exactly how Final Fantasy 5 worked. Heaven forbid you discover the ninja job, use a devastating attack, destroy the boss in one hit, and find out you can't afford that new sword because that one attack involved throwing money at the enemy. Gilgamesh could be blowing all that moolah on hookers.
Isn't this the game /v/ got all mad about because it was censored in the US or something?
Isn't this the game /v/ got all mad about because it was censored in the US or something?
Two of the class costumes were basically belts and a bikini for the two female leads, which got edited to be a bit more wholesome in the US and Europe. Everyone's ages were bumped up as well, which tones down the 'underage flirting' overtones since we don't exactly like those implications and all.
Isn't this the game /v/ got all mad about
The answer to that question is always yes.
I'll definitely keep an eye on this game, reminds me a lot of SNES RPGs.
