• Computer having problems booting

For some reason when I turned on my computer this morning, it refused to boot past any futher than the BIOS. It gets through the BIOS messages and that stuff, but when it reaches the blank screen before the Windows loading screen it just stops and stays there. Now I know it isn't the HDD because I took my HDD and plugged it into my other computer with the same specs and it worked perfectly. Anyone got any idea what could be wrong? I did pickup that fpsbanana virus last night but after I cleared my cache/temp files etc it seemed to disappear. Here are my specifications: Windows Vista Ultimate Edition SP2 ASUS P5K SE Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E8650 @ 3.01GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM NVIDIA 9800GT w/ 512MB VRAM HDD C:\ @ 250GB HDD D:\ @ 1TB (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of permabanned user" - Craptasket))
Make sure all the the cables are seated properly (rate me boxes if you did that already). Edit: I'm surprised no one followed my instructions.
He didn't poke around inside the computer lately, and I got him to check his RAM sticks (boot with one in, then boot with only the other in)
Yeah, all cables are plugged and seated properly.
Try ejecting any CDs/DVDs and remove any USB storage devices. Sometimes my PC will hang with random discs in the drive at boot time. I can't explain this phenomenon but it's worth a shot.
I just got this today too. Was just about to make a thread. Nothing on this thread has worked so far. Strange thing is it was working last nightnow just nothing :(
I had that problem too. It was my GPU, I took it out, then it worked. I tried it on my other PC with same specs, it works, so its either my motherboard or my power supply.

So like you said, it's most likely the motherboard. Anyone know what the problem is?
