Welp, welcome to the future of games ??
Honestly, if I had a 200GB monthly cap like the author and I had no other option, I'd fucking move. I'm sure their download rate is shit but I could blast through that in under an hour myself. The fact that ISPs are allowed to pull this shit is amazing.
Hmm, try and get new internet, deal with the fact that you can't afford something better, or move, which one of those sounds the most viable in a regular non-rich person's and non-introvert's life?

They're all implementing caps. Cox just implemented one with all of 1 week's notice. So if you want good internet, moving IS actually the only option in the USA. And where ever you move it'll be the same situation. Maybe your cap will be higher and your speed will be faster or slower. Maybe it won't. Maybe it'll change to something different. Maybe it'll cost more or cost less. It's all shit. And if Net Neutrality is repealed it's going to get a hell of a lot worse
no problemo for me, just gonna leave it for the whole day to download and no data caps for me

A lot of Europeans don't understand just how anti-consumer most of the US economy is, and how little the people and the government can/will do about it (which speaks positively of Europe's consumer laws, at least) Even the "unlimited" plans here have caps (and they really don't like calling them caps)
I guess that's one of the downsides to America being as large as it is, internet service providers aren't all spread out giving people choices, instead it's area based.
It's not really due to us being large, it's due to the ISP's intentionally avoiding direct competition with each other and making deals and buying legislation to keep it that way.
It's not really due to us being large, it's due to the ISP's intentionally avoiding direct competition with each other and making deals and buying legislation to keep it that way.
Plus as Americans we have a strong cultural expectation to put up with anti-consumer bullshit from businesses and corporations, and not make too much noise
