Specs: GPU : nvidia GTX260 CPU : AMD Phenom 2x 550 Thinking about upgrading one of them. Most of my games i have to play on low to get decent Fps, games like Bad company 2 and armed assault 2.

how about something like 150 euro, and would it be worth it?
whats your motherboard, you maybe able to unlock it first
My motherboard is a : MSI K9A2 Neo2 A770 RG SA
Your GPU is fine... What country? on new egg u can get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-613-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-704-_-Product for 150$
alright, im from holland. The links dont work for me
Maybe a phenom II 955 but I would need a budget.
Why not a 965?
Why not a 965?
because it's basically a 955 with a small overclock
Wow, theres a mistake that I was very close to making, thank you!
It's because he only has 150 euroes and im presuming websites in holland and stuff arent as cheap as us and uk so a 955 would be pushing the budget and he would need a new mobo
i would need a new mobo for the 965??
Don't think so. The result from the google search i made on your mobo, said it supported AM2+. It should be no problem. Unless I found the wrong Mobo.
Are the 965's still AM2+? Anyway, the Phenom 2 550 is AM3 so he will be fine upgrading to any of the Phenom 2 Architecture.
As far as I know AM3 fits into Am2+ just fine..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_AM3
Alright, i might go for the 965. thanks for the help
Np [editline]11:58AM[/editline] Wait a minute? A 965? Why not just buy a 955 and overclock it a little? It'll save you some money.
Yeh get a 955
presuming websites in holland and stuff arent as cheap as us and uk
The Euro is quite strong against the pound, so the prices will be decent I suspect.
-snip- [editline]03:52PM[/editline] pretty sure it don't work unless you have ddr3
Why shouldn't it work with DDR2? You can find a lot of mobo's with AM3 socket and DDR2 RAM... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342&cm_re=am3_ddr2-_-13-128-342-_-Product
-snip- [editline]03:52PM[/editline] pretty sure it don't work unless you have ddr3
Running an am3 phenom x2 550 here no problem with ddr2.
-snip- [editline]03:52PM[/editline] pretty sure it don't work unless you have ddr3
It works. If the mobo doesn't have ddr2 as it's main type of memory, then it won't work. Obviously because you can't fit memory sticks into it.
Yes definitely get a 955.
a 965 is only 15 euro's more than 955, might as well get 965 for that money?? Or is that just me being dumb?
a 965 is only 15 euro's more than 955, might as well get 965 for that money?? no Or is that just me being dumb? yes
[editline]02:37AM[/editline] buying a 965 is like buying a pre-overclocked graphics card, you're paying more for something you can do yourself easily
[editline]02:37AM[/editline] buying a 965 is like buying a pre-overclocked graphics card, you're paying more for something you can do yourself easily
Im not very handy with overclocking, never did it before.. I oced my current card with Overdrive.. Edit: But alright.. if you guys are saying 955.. it will be the 955 Edit: The 965 has a higher CPU Multiplier and CPU stepping , What does that mean?
