It seems like almost everyone on this forum has very similar political opinions, and the distribution of these opinions seems to be very different from the general population. Why do you think this is the case?
I guess it's a fairly liberal place, but in general it's just that when one person rates agree/disagree/dumb, everyone else just copy-rates and does the same thing
People of similar interests and likeliness like to gather in the same place.
I disagree with alot of things said here by people that get like, 60 agrees and only 1 or 2 disagrees, I just don't say anything because... well, I just don't really know how to say what I want to say.
It's a forum (mostly) about videogames, so it's not composed of the 'general pupulation', but (mostly, again), by people interested in videogames. That's why analizing it under other perspectives may give a different result from the 'general population' (population of what, again, this forum has members from all over the world)
Because we're generally the same demographic of 15-25 year old basement-dwellers.

You mean 14-17 year old basement-dwellers?

Well tits, I better get out then, two years past my expiration date.
You would be surprised how much of facepunch is right wing
Most people on FP are here because they were GMod fans at some point. I always thought that GMod appeals only to specific people, that's why everyone on FP has similar views
It's more that the people on FP who have a different political opinion to the general population, feel that they can express it here. So they do. A lot.
I tend to disagree with about 50% of the widely spouted political ideals on this forum, but I can't be bothered arguing with them so I keep quiet. It's easier to just let them get on with it.
I thought we were statistically normal.
Then I just realised I was statistically normal for Facepunch.
the amount of gay/bi people here seems to be quite a bit higher than average too

Compared to where?
bandwagoning
I dunno man, I just post here.
Birds of a feather flock together. Or in laymans terms, we intend to "socialize" with the same kind.

Facepunch doesn't like different opinions. It usually doesn't end well.

Which is strange, because Facepunch has members from nearly every country on the planet.

Doesn't mean we all have different opinions.
All forums have some members who either don't understand the difference between opinion and fact, or (much more commonly) think that every subject has only two, entirely contrasting opinions.
It boils down to "Either you agree with me, or you disagree".
"Do you agree with [A] or [B]? I think [A] is correct."
"Well actually I think that parts of [A] are right, but prefer some parts of [B]"
"So you're a [B] supporter? You asshole."
Face it, like any where else in the online universe, so long as there's virtually complete anonymity people will just be outright extreme. There's no serious judgement of character or consequence for one's self so it's not surprising that you'd find people's views to be ultimately unrealistic, idealistic or just downright black and white.
Plus, the fact that most likely a majority of our members can easily fit into the stereotypical "geek/nerd" category (all social anxieties to go along with it), it's further no more surprising that Facepunch is anything but normal.

I need a super agree rating.

Mainly because of the anonymity Facepunch and the internet in general provides making an almost safe haven for LGBT people here such as myself, Funion, and others as well. Although not a mainstream website, we got people all over adding to diversity and developing it's own culture as well with things like "that cat" if any of you remember that shit.
20 something year old atheists from norway who like gasmasks, urban exploring and video games
People who post differing opinions here are often flamed enough to never want to do it again. The site has a lot of elitists on it who would rather have a circle jerk than a argument with a member on the other side of the political spectrum. Don't get me wrong, I agree with a lot of people on the site. But its sometimes reminiscent of /r/atheism here.

I didn't even know what gmod was when I joined with my first account. I was looking for TF2 shit since I was thinking about buying it. :v:

I doubt its much different then other forums. Since we are more openly liberal than most forums, homosexuals can post openly with assholes talking shit. And if they do talk shit, they get flamed to hell and back, and then banned.
