Why don't we just use a spoon: Robber spends three hours carving a hole to steal jewelry, gets away
Joe Hattar, owner of Diamonds By Monet, shared with CBS2/KCAL9 security video that shows a burglary suspect carving a hole into the side of a concrete and steel safe for three hours early last Monday.
Wearing a headlamp and a termite suit, and armed with a saw, Hattar says, the burglar walked off with all he’s worked for over the past decade.
“I can’t believe it. It’s probably well-planned. It’s not the first time,” he said.
“It’s a disaster. All my hard work for 10 years, it’s gone within a few hours.”
Hattar said the thief got in by first cutting a hole in the roof of the business next door. Once inside, the suspect cut another hole into the jewelry store’s wall.
Hattar suspects the thief had help.
“It’s a group of people; it’s not one or two or three,” he insisted.
Hattar said it’s unclear why the store’s alarm or motion sensors didn’t go off. The majority of the stolen jewelry isn’t covered by insurance.
“That’s the last thing you want to think about, someone coming and rob you and clean you out,” he said.
Hattar filed a police report and hopes that because some of his pieces are so unique, authorities will be able to track down the items more easily.
Bain'll be proud
That's some dedication.
You get busy digging, or get busy dying...

I wonder why, because that fucking SUCKS
I wonder why, because that fucking SUCKS
maybe because they're such high price items (the ones he keeps in a safe no less) and sell so infrequently, that the insurance on them would probably run him dry pretty fast. I'd imagine the premiums would be through the roof

much like the robber

Yes.
Edit:
Is that fucking Neil Degrasse Tyson in a termite suit.
Police are currently undergoing a search for suspect, Mr. Andrew Dufresne, who was last spotted in Portland, Maine.
From the source. Don't know why I didn't see that coming :v:

wat
wat
Probably meant 'not the first time I've been robbed', not 'not the first time somebody carved a hole in my safe'.
wat
probably just not the first time someone's made a hell of an effort to rob the place in general, not necessarily make off with the contents of a vault
[editline]e[/editline]
yeah what he said
Probably meant 'not the first time I've been robbed', not 'not the first time somebody carved a hole in my safe'.
No, definitely have had many more holes in his wall :v:
Probably meant 'not the first time I've been robbed', not 'not the first time somebody carved a hole in my safe'.
or not the first time that this guy has done this kind of crime and that is been practiced
Three hours work for $4 millions dollars? Worth it, knowing my laziness I still wouldn't bother. :v:
This was done to my credit union a year or two ago. They went through the roof of the business next door and dug/drilled into the safe and got away.
I guess its a method that's catching on.
I'm confused as to how you would sell stolen diamonds. Don't they all have serial numbers etched into them? Wouldn't they eventually pass into legal hands then be returned?

They're re-cut.
That is the cheapest planning for a heist. You would think anyone digging with a spoon would have been caught fast.

Knowing other peoples laziness, they will get the same job done in an hour.
Gotta get back home and bum around on the Internet!

I thought he meant it was not the robbers first time doing this, seeing as he was so patient

They were more than likely referring to a boilersuit.
The majority of the stolen jewelry isn’t covered by insurance.
Well why the fuck not? What's the point of insurance on a jewelry store that doesn't cover most of the jewelry?
