Hi,
I need a FREE LOSSLESS video decoder to decode h264 .mp4 files into a more common usable format, wmv or avi will do fine, if needs be flv will do to...
any suggestions?
Thanks...
h.264 is lossy therefore your post makes no sense
ok, a decoder that will reduce quality oss as much as possible??
decoding doesn't introduce any loss... it's the encoding that does.
ok, can you suggest a good batch decoder for h264??
Dl a trial for premiere or something.
adobe priemre?? I don't want a water mark and I need it for at least 6 months, not one...
There's no watermark but okay.
I like SUPER. Google it.

Erm, I just tried priemre trail and there's a big huge water mark splapped all across the middle, and i'll give virtual dub a try...

Well to be helpful try HandBrake it's fucking awesome http://handbrake.fr/
I always encode videos to lossless h.264 .avi files using VirtualDub, is this what you want?
no, I want to convert FROM h.264 .mp4 to a more common format...

mov is a container.
It doesn't have to be windows software... linux based programs will do too
Sorry to entering your thread like this, but does anyone know a proper MKV to AVI converter so I could watch my HD movies/shows/whatever on my Xbox 360?

other than MVK there are few containers that will work with h.264

Actually, I remember actually using a program to convert an MKV to AVI before. I can't remember which one though. I want to say I used SUPER, but I'm not 100% sure.
Just looked on the website, and apparently it says MKV's are supported, so try that.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned MediaCoder. It even has free CUDA GPU encoding for faster conversions to different formats.
