There on that image of the HD5870 graphics card is a 6pin and a 8pin power connector.

Read the manual that came with the graphics card; it's likely that you only need one or the other. (Or, if there was no manual, read the online documentation)

No, you need both.
OP, the card should come with an 8-pin adapter so as long as you some spare 4-pin molex connectors you'll be fine.
my 5870 comes with 2x 6 pin, no 8 pin
Yeah the image is faulty.
The card that I just ordered has 2x 6pins.

I think the HD5870 with the 8 pin is the Eyefinity edition. More RAM and extra displayports probably consumes more power.

i can confirm that. the eyefinity 6 editions have that pin setup. and i was under the impression that all the 5870's required a 8 and 6 pin setup.
