• SSD Degradation?

So now, a few years down the road from the initial release of the SSD, I'm considering getting one. I've had my eye on the Intel X25-M. But after browsing the interwebs, I've read plenty about the degradation of the drive. It seems that what causes it is just a bad algorithm ( As viewed here). But all of the articles I've been reading are from like early 09. Question being, is the degradation still a major issue?
No, it never was
I have had a Intel X25-M for a while now and it hasn't been getting noticeably slower. I was under the impression the effects have been generally reduced enough to not cause a problem. At least in an operating systems that support TRIM. I'm using the latest Intel RST Drivers
SSDs will have moved on quite a bit since then IIRC OCZ Vertex 2 is the new "standard" for a decently priced, high performance SSD
Get the Vertex 2 if you want a good SSD.
surely any ssd with the sandforce controller is just as good? whats ocz's return policy like? i had a ssd from corsair that was corrupting my files and they have a really good rma department i got replacement that has a better spec than the one i returned not used it though as a 64GB ssd is a bit useless

it's only an issue if you use arrays
I have a Vertex 2, but it never performs as they say it does. [editline]12:34AM[/editline] Although, it's still super fast and worth it.
Not all sandforce driven SSDs are the same speed, and i am not sure about their policies, check their site.
Well actually the majority do, the Vertex is only different from any other SandForce drive as OCZ are a close partner with SandForce and managed to nab the server version of the controller so it will be a tiny bit faster in certain situations, nothing you would notice.
How long have you had it?
About a month but that was taken a few days after I installed it.
