• BBC spends £50,000 on Doctor Who Confidential Christmas special, proceeds to scrap all of it
Top brass canned the BBC3 spin-off series — which showed behind-the-scenes footage, clips and interviews — in September. But writing in the new edition of Doctor Who magazine, series producer Gillane Seaborne claimed a Christmas edition had already been made. She said: "The biggest regret is the episode of Confidential we've filmed for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special which now won't be shown. "So I guess in the fine traditions of Doctor Who, we now have our very own missing episode." Industry experts put the cost of an episode of the show, which was presented by Alastair Sooke, at around £50,000 but "possibly more". Last night a BBC source suggested that they had no idea about the episode. The source said: "This is the first we have heard of it. We're being told there is no Christmas show." But a BBC spokesman insisted: "While Doctor Who Confidential has been decommissioned, all existing episodes will be shown. "But there is no Christmas special." that doesn't sound like much compared to what most TV shows cost/pay their actors/etc
So why was it canceled?
So why was it canceled?
IIRC the BBC were canceling shows to cut back on costs, It wasn't just Confidential that was canceled.
IIRC the BBC were canceling shows to cut back on costs, It wasn't just Confidential that was canceled.
AFAIK...
* Coming Of Age * Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps * BBC2 comedies i cannot remember * BBC3 comedies * And more i cannot remember.
I liked Coming of Age.
Could have made an episode of Screenwipe and still had £3000 left over with that Would have been a better use of the money too
What do they do with the money? Just throw it out? :downs:
I love Dr.Who, but I haven't been able to watch any of the newest season because my college cable doesn't get BBC :(
I doubt Two Pints and Coming of Age have been cancelled...there writer is fucking lazy, but I doubt it's because it's been cancelled.
Coulda spent that money helping to keep F1 with the BBC ¬_¬ wankers
Shame really, I'm not too keen on Doctor Who but I am certainly less keen on most of the current BBC comedies. Maybe they are taking surveys and I'm in the lower percent.
ive never heard of doctor who so the title confused me
I liked Coming of Age.
It was good in the first series, but it's gone down hill. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] Same with two pints.
ive never heard of doctor who so the title confused me
You live in England and have never heard of Doctor Who? I live in small town America and people here are aware of it.
ive never heard of doctor who so the title confused me
Is this some form of sarcasm?
ive never heard of doctor who so the title confused me
how
so it is just confidential that is canned or is it the actual doctor who special down the drain
Coulda spent that money helping to keep F1 with the BBC ¬_¬ wankers
Agree'd I love doctor who, but damn, I'd rather the money be used to keep F1 where it belongs. Hell we've just got it back from ITV and now its going over to Sky.
So why was it canceled?
They thought cutting a program which is no more than a behind the scenes look at something would save them more money than cutting some of the shitty property shows they commission.
£50,000 is chump change for BBC.
For fuck sake I really was looking out for it.
They have cancelled the behind the scenes program, not the special. The special will still go ahead.
AFAIK...
But Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps is fucking hilarious.
I doubt Two Pints and Coming of Age have been cancelled...there writer is fucking lazy, but I doubt it's because it's been cancelled.
No, It was confirmed to be axed.
But Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps is fucking hilarious.
It was till it literally jumped the shark. Went downhill very very quickly after that.
But Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps is fucking hilarious.
Not after Johnny died, Then it was just pure liquid filth.
ive never heard of doctor who so the title confused me
Really? That's like an American never hearing of Star Trek.
AFAIK...
thank fuck two pints got cancelled, it was abhorrent
thank fuck two pints got cancelled, it was abhorrent
Series 1-4 were fine but 5+ was just no just no
I love Dr.Who, but I haven't been able to watch any of the newest season because my college cable doesn't get BBC :(
http://watchseries.eu/serie/doctor_who
