I could swear I've seen GTAV go as low as $35 in previous sales

How do Max Payne 1&2 run on modern PCs? Are the controls fine for mouse and keyboard and do they have widescreen support?

I don't know about widescreen, but the controls on 2 were fine for me bebsides some mouse acceleration.

Why would their controls be weird? They were both developed only for PC originally.

I thought they were originally PS2 games. Anyway, I ask because sometimes ports get shitty controls or they don't detect extra mouse buttons. In the case of System Shock 2, the controls are dated and have moving forward and moving forward faster as separate buttons

GTAV only goes down to $35 during a major sale, same thing with the rest of R*'s games, they go for slightly lower prices during major sales.
I've played all of them. I do not want to play them again. Just GTA 5.

Ayy Lmao.
Max Payne 1 and 2 on PS2 are like the Wii version of Dead Rising relative to the PC and Xbox versions of MP1 and 2. I'm serious. There's fairly large alterations to their PS2 versions whilst the Xbox and PC versions are pretty much identical except for one being controlled with M&K and the other being with The Duke.
Anyway - Anyone know how GTA4 would run on a PC with 8GB RAM, GTX970, and an FX6300? Also was GFWL ever removed?
pretty sure gta4 will run smooth as butter, but it seems to be random more than anything else.
also, i don't believe gfwl was removed from it, or it would probably have steam achievements.
also also, with the exception of midnight club 2, i own everything on steam under rockstar's name. that's about to change.

Depending on your rig, Max Payne 1 is a bitch and will probably require some obscure-ass fan patches to even run properly, but it runs well, aside from being broken as fuck with no official support.

It's been a while, but I remember GFWL was still not removed. You can use XLiveless to remove GFWL.
To make the game run better, you can downgrade the current version of GTA IV (1.0.7.0) to 1.0.4.0, since 1.0.7.0 made the performance of the game a lot worse. Most mods support both 1.0.4.0 and 1.0.7.0, with some exceptions.

MP1 literally did not have the budget to be developed for PS2. It was made by some random Finnish dudes who had so little money that the cutscenes were just photographs of the developers with filters applied in photoshop.
Yeah, it's weird looking at Max Payne 2 back to back with the first game - I mean, shit, the first game feels like a mod of Half Life or Quake (Complete with being split up into Episodes ala Wolf3D/Doom), rough 90's gunplay and all. Then bam, Max Payne 2 has actual cutscenes with the comic-strips being reduced to just masks for the loading screens, along with a whole bunch of other polish the first game didn't have, the works. The first game to the second is probably one of the most visible changes in budget between games, and among the few highly visible ones to be a positive change in budget *Glares at Saints Row 3 and Valkyria Chronicles 2's obvious budget-cuts relative to their predecessors*
Oh and not all of them were photos of the developers. The ones that didn't focus on faces directly were outright in-engine screenshots with a filter.
So much nicer seeing MP2's comic-strips being actual paintings instead of shops.
Just a couple of recommendations:
LA Noire is a great game for that price because although it's great game you really only need to play it once. The cases beside some expectations have only one right outcome.
Max Payne trilogy should be in everyone's library. I will say that MP1 gameplay isn't the best but story and atmosphere makes up for it (in good or funny way). MP2 and MP3 have strong stories and great gameplay. I'm still amazed how well MP2 plays even today. MP3 has a lot of cutscenes but when it lets you play it's a blast.
My PS3 broke a week ago and I stumble upon this sale for two of my favorite games (GTA IV and V), fuck yeah.

It's gonna take 3 days for me to download GTA V but it'll be worth it.

So you have the same setup as me, you can run pretty much every linear game out there at 60fps on high and every open world game out there probably on mediumish setting at a solid 60. I had TW3 on high at 60 with occasional drops. GTAIV is ancient though and that'll be ultra 60fps no issue. Also they never removed GFWL which sucks.
