"We got 2000 keys we aren't biased at all, really!" Suspicious as fuck.
I played 2 hours so that's not much for an MMO but from my experience the combat is boring and the art style all over the place. That and they charge monthly, making it imo not worth it.
what's even happening. MMOs left right and centre looking forward to another inevitable F2P mess
If MMO developers, or any developer for that matter, could stop trying to replicate the current leader, we would have a lot better games. Guild Wars 2 did its own thing and it is doing just fine and it innovated in a lot of areas. While still a "theme park" mmo, they did a lot great things, like removing the holy trinity and whatnot. GW2 isn't perfect but it is at least trying to do things differently. Wildstar wants to do things differently too it seems. But we'll see.

Anything more than the usual medium-sized PvP areas and raiding?

That's as much as I know. Didn't get to pvp or raid.
jesus, games media is still harping on about the "wow killer" what year am i in? will duke nukem forever ever come out???
I for one am actually excited about this game, the game does something new with combat for once.
To be fair, after GW2 I can't stand MMOs that use holy trinity system. It just feels wrong to be tied to one role.
but gw2 was a horrible buttonmash simulator instead
but gw2 was a horrible buttonmash simulator instead
It really depends, for me it was a 60 euro well wasted but for others well they are still playing it. Main difference is that they got a big guild they are in which makes every MMO 10x better. WildStar and WoW have a advantage that the game can still be played very decently alone or with just another guy.

Are you saying World of Warcraft with its massive guilds that dwarf anything in Guild Wars 2 is exempt from this or that Wildstar won't see the same trend?
To be fair, after GW2 I can't stand MMOs that use holy trinity system. It just feels wrong to be tied to one role.
The lack of the trinity in GW2 is pretty unique. Too bad the combat system is very poor compared to let's say WoW. 50% of a characters skills are boring, generic and have virtually no impact, 25% is very situational and the other 25% you just keep spamming. The whole 'different skills with different weapons' thing was awesome at the start but after a while you've seen it all.
but gw2 was a horrible buttonmash simulator instead
Which is worse than the almost turn-based clock watching of MMOs like WoW? Guild Wars 2 went with condensed skill sets but much more active combat and frankly that keeps me far more interested than watching the game play and occasionally tapping a button to do a trick. [editline]2nd May 2014[/editline]
Too bad the combat system is very poor compared to let's say WoW.
I really find it better and more engaging than WoWs. I've actually fallen asleep during protracted fights in WoW before because the combat is just that dull.

[editline]2nd May 2014[/editline] Also why do you take everything regarding GW2 as offensive?
Media coverage wise I don't think there's going to be a MMO as big as World of Warcraft was in it's early years, it's been 10 years and most games within the genre are still trying to replicate it. We need more games to actually redefine the genre.
You mean you think you can't play WildStar alone? :v: Guess you should play another beta or 3.
No, you insinuated that you can't play Guild Wars 2 alone when you are absolutely capable of doing so, and that its popularity was dependent upon people having massive guilds.
Also why do you take everything regarding GW2 as offensive?
I don't find it offensive, I'm just not a fan of misinformation.
I only played 2 hours so I have no idea about such things. Outdoor areas are like in most mmos meant for solo/small groups. That's as much as I know. Didn't get to pvp or raid.
So it's singleplayer until you put 30 hours into it or something? What a shitty concept.
We need more sandbox MMOs but only indie game makers seem to be making those... Also most MMORPGs seem to forget the RPG part.
Oh yeah to add to the list why games like WildStar or pretty much anything can't come that close to being a WoW killer is because WoW has a 10 year history of content patches and expansion packs.
Which is worse than the almost turn-based clock watching of MMOs like WoW?
the game plays like an action game with severly horrible controls for both your skills and movement and limited build customization, i would say its a pretty boring and bad design
the bad design in GW2 is how the endgame is Barbie Princess Dress-Up (Except You Have To Grind Like Hell To Get Cool Looking Armor) I had a lot of fun playing GW2 up to level 80. Soon as that happened? I was like, "This is the endgame?" I've booted it up 6 or 7 times since, and it hasn't improved a bit. Also Wildstar tries to hard to be vanilla WoW and as we all remember, Vanilla WoW was broken as all hell. Wildstar is "Jumping Out of Red Shapes: The Game (P.S. the Endgame Sucks Worse Than WoW)"
the bad design in GW2 is how the endgame is Barbie Princess Dress-Up (Except You Have To Grind Like Hell To Get Cool Looking Armor)
Yeah endgame in gw2 is the downfall. Most of it is spent grinding gold or tokens. And even then the barbie dressup is sub-par since like 80% of the equipment looks absolutely awful.
I still play WoW and find it fun. I dont plan on moving to another mmo until wow does die for real.
If they would remove monthly subscription I would easily spend thousands hours in this game.
<insert any previous MMO with big funding here> is the next WoW killer.
Is it because the art stlyle looks almost identical?
Is it because the art stlyle looks almost identical?
All MMOs are WoWs you know.
I'm going to enjoy Wildstar when it comes out, but it ain't a wow killer, only thing that can kill it is WoW itself.
