• What Linux Distro for a file sever/entertainment computer?

I just acquired by little brothers old Macbook for a bargain of $10. I want to use it as a file server to store all my movies on and as a computer hooked up to the TV to play videos. It's either a 2 or a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo with 1GB of RAM, and a 144MB Intel GMA video card Which distro should I use? I would like a GUI
You'd want something with lots of support and info to find on the internet, but also lightweight so Ubuntu itself is eliminated. Then you're down to something like Lubuntu or Xubuntu. But honestly, if it uses standard DDR2 so-DIMM sticks, try and buy some larger capacity ones either used from a reputable seller on Ebay, or from a clearance sale. The processor has more than enough grunt for even gameserver use, but the general bottleneck is the lack of RAM. Then you can use it for more than just a basic fileserver if you so desire in the future.
I was intending to get more RAM when I get around to it So Lubantu or Xubantu?
Gentoo. Being serious though, i'd personally use Crunchbang.
If you're thinking for it to be like an HTPC (Home Theater PC) I recommend XBMC. It can run on a Raspberry Pi so it should work fine for you http://xbmc.org/
I've downloaded Xubantu. Lets see how well it goes
