Alright mods lock it down, only because nobody can tell me if it will fit or not, which is why I made the thread.
More importantly, what is your PSU model? Also, rest of your specs please.
i just need to know if it will fit, i know it will work i just need the size f the thing [editline]13th October 2010[/editline] 2.9 amd athlon duel core, 4 gigs ddr2, motherboard i linked... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119161 [editline]13th October 2010[/editline] will it >FIT<
I just need to know if your PSU won't crap out damn it. By the way, your CPU will bottleneck this card.
It's cooler master thats all I know, its not for me its for my uncle. 500w
I just measured mine, it's approximately 260mm, or 10".
I just measured mine, it's approximately 260mm, or 10".
so will it fit in here? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119161 on a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128394&Tpk=gigabyte%20us2h
Hah. 5850 for your uncle? Anyway, I don't think it would run on that PSU.
It probably wont, the damn thing is bigger than a mATX board.
no the 5850 won't even run on your PSU
Alright quick update, I found the old card he was using, which he gave to me. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&expIds=17259,17311,17315,23628,23670,25755,25834,25854,25981,26209,26218,26328,26339,26637,26746,26761,26766,26788,26849,27047&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=powercolor+hd+4870&cp=15&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6759515802547721711&ei=vFO3TKyuMduW4gbt_fW9CQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&sqi=2&ved=0CCoQ8wIwAw&os=tech-specs Which is a pretty good card still. He should get the 1GB IMO? Anyways yeah the 4870 is a fat long mother fucker, but not sure exactly how big it is compared to the gigabyte. Maybe you guys could suggest a different card for him that suits his PSU better, he's planning on a quad core processor soon, not sure what he's doing with the power.
no the 5850 won't even run on your PSU
See it's nice to know who rates who. We know that ADT said disagree, but then we already know ADT doesn't know anything about power supplies.
UPDATE: This is asreles uncle ;/ I used to use FP but don't anymore so he's my bitch when it comes to questions. Guys I've decided to get a new power supply. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139019 Now I can get a card without having to worry about my psu not holding it up. I was thinking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-na-_-na-_-na Thoughts? Still not sure if either will fit in my case but My old card was 9 inches long and pretty thick. Ran no problem and it had a smidge of breathing room. I'll upgrade my CPU to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103885&cm_re=amd_athlon_quad-_-19-103-885-_-Product on my next paycheck. Oh and the 4870 is still a pretty good card yeah, but I really don't want the same card as my faggot nephew. Especially not after I gave him mine. Might just spend the cash to upgrade my MOBO and cross fire w/e card. Thoughts?
better power supply 5830 sucks, your second link doesn't work and that quad core is garbage
Ideas on a better one for not that much more? (For both items.) Also thanks a ton for the PSU I totally missed on that.
and how old are you that you talk to and about your nephew like that? [editline]14th October 2010[/editline] click better power supply and 5830 sucks, they are hyperlinks. [editline]14th October 2010[/editline] if you have a heatsink that you can reuse that will fit AM2+ then just get this, otherwise this

I don't really care if it'll run 100% Just better then the onboard 4200.
If you are upgrading your CPU you might need to upgrade the motherboard.
I just measured mine, it's approximately 260mm, or 10".
I'm gonna assume you have the card I want to get, if that's the case, thanks.
