• BSOD on XP install

Hello! I'm trying to run dual boot with Windows 7 and Windows XP (Windows 7 is currently installed). I've successfully partitioned my harddrive, but when I try to install Windows XP, I get a BSOD. The following error code was shown at the BSOD:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78DA63C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
I've tried to hit F6, while the installation is loading, to load 3rd party drivers or something like that (I can't remember exactly what the name is). I get to this screen: But when I hit ENTER, the BSOD appears. I have tried Google a lot but no definitive answer was found. I have looked over that article. I suspect I need a driver, but how would I go about obtaining that? And how would I use it?
Do you have a sata hard drive?
I would assume so, considering the machine is only about a year old.
I had the same problem, I gave up and installed Vista.

HP Pavillion dv6. I can fetch the exact model number if you need it.
HP Pavillion dv6. I can fetch the exact model number if you need it.
Yeah, the DV6 won't support xp. HP doesn't even provide any form of drivers for it.

The rest do not support it. Though some do support it, doesn't always mean it'll work. I've tried this on my new G62-220CA and same thing for me, even though they supported it.
So what you're saying is the BSOD is related to a driver?
So what you're saying is the BSOD is related to a driver?
Probably a missing hd controller, or something near that. These what I did to fix my problem: Updated bios. I scanned my memory for possible errors. Installed hd controller, and hd drivers on installation startup. If that doesn't work, check your disk(s) for possible corruption. The best memory tester I know of, would be on a linux cd at the choose an option screen. Hope this helps!
This could also be a BIOS setting. Such as ACHI hard drive configuration.
