IMO Ultima Online was one of the best medieval/fantasy rpgs. It was my first sandbox game and I still haven't found anything nearly as good as UO in terms of sandboxing. Sure there are attempts like mortal online or that other game whatever but they don't even stand close to what UO was. I played on a private server and it was full freedom. Quests and events were all player made, you could be any profession you want. A high skill blacksmith or a tailor was very demanded for example. Or a carpenter for furniture to put in your houses and player made towns. Combat was very fun and required a fair bit of skill too. I remember we had a huge 100 man free for all. 100 might not sound a lot but for an isometric game it was quite a havoc. Oh and full loot. Everyone gangs up a player with cool armor, kills him and then some rat loots his corpse and flees. They had these cool color dyes at the end of some dungeons and I was asking skilled players to dye clothes for me. These were the days.
Countless hours being a Councelor,Gamemaster,Seer, and Admin those were the days sigh,
Alec Meer, a writer at games news site Rock Paper Shotgun, expressed surprise that Mr Garriott had to appeal for funds via Kickstarter given that in 2009 he spent millions of dollars to take a trip into space.
Don't know what to think of this [editline]9th March 2013[/editline] Could be that he's asking for money to show investors that people are actually interrested, like other kickstarter projects have done
Maybe the cost of going into space was most of his money? There are many factors that could possibly explain this.
Pfft, Ultima.
