Whenever I watch a movie, I always find that the soundtrack can be utterly amazing (unless it's some really cheesy 80s shit, like Ferox). What music would you, facepunch, say is one that stands out the most to you, inflicts emotion or makes you want to listen to more (and most importantly, why!?)! [SUB]inb4 kavinsky[/SUB] This track from Battle Royale is one that stands out for me as I feel it suited the moment of the scene ([sp]where Kitano-Sensi reveals his painting to Nanahara, Kawada and Sugimura (I might be wrong with the last name) and is ultimately gunned down[/sp]). It took my breath away.
Romper Stomper because it is full of fake Nazi punk. I have the original CD in my collection.
OP are you referring to the original score or soundtrack compilation or both?

Life Aquatic. Portugese versions of David Bowie songs. Glorious. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
Blade Runner has easily one of the best soundtracks of all time.
For soundtrack: Lost In Space (yes that movie) the lineup was stellar in its time: apollo four forty, crystal method, fatboy slim, juno reactor, propellerheads for score: mark mancina's work for the movie Twister, which sports a great musical flavor of the american heartland
Any movie I've seen that was scored by Akira Ifukube was like listening to the music of the gods.
Gotta be Pulp Fiction.
FOOTLOOSE!
Oh, by far it's muppet treasure island! may not be the best muppet movie, but it certainly had the best songs! hans zimmer is a genius composer. The entire soundtrack from Henry V. In particular, the Non Nobis Domine, which the victorious Brits sing after the Battle of Agincourt. It's a very powerful moment in film, I think.
Beyond the Black Rainbow's soundtrack is pretty fantastic.
For now, I'd have to say Inception. Damn the music in that movie is good. Tangled is also in my favourite list
Let's start off with something classy: Lalo Schifrin knows his badass cops. I think his work on Bullitt is overshadowed by the Dirty Harry series soundtrack that we all know, but he just pulls off that smooth sountrack like no one else could. It really deserves our attention: And since we're talking about underrated soundtracks, how about Apocalypse Now? We all know about the whole The Doors dealio, but not enough people give the creepy, atmospheric and surrealistic OST enough credit, I think. And shit, let us not forget about Jonny Greenwood's work on There Will be Blood. Really tense. You woulnd't be able to tell it was a soundtrack for such a movie just by hearing it, but it ends up working perfectly.
For now, I'd have to say Inception.
The soundtrack's so brilliantly composed and tought out, it just kills me that it's the sole responsible for the stupid use of the horn sound effect in every hollywood trailer ever since. It was so perfect for the original context, too. Also I think we can all agree Blade Runner is the master race of soundtracks and we can all stop posting now since there won't be anything better to post
Tenacious D and the pick of destiny. I like the movie and loved the soundtrack. Its both good music and silly. Another favorite is from Tron: Legacy but thats because i freaking love daft punk. and lastly Kung Fu Panda's music, fucking love Hans Zimmer

Alex North's scrapped score for 2001 is pretty good too, I recommend you check it out.

Lord of the Rings.
probably Inception, with Terminator 2, the Dark Knight saga and Star Wars very close behind Baysplosion's Transformers had some really, REALLY cool tracks too
Tron: Legacy - Daft Punk did a great job with it. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - The main Arthurian/adventurer theme they licensed from De Wolfe was perfectly used. Pulp Fiction - Quentin Tarantino has good taste. Reservoir Dogs - See Pulp Fiction. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Howard Shore's score was kickass. Watchmen - Not so much for the score, but the licensed music by people like Jimi Hendrix and Nat King Cole.
Starship Troopers I love Basil Poledouris's work and this is my favorite of his scores. Comedic at times, but very dramatic at others (much like his score for Robocop). Its a shame that Varese Sarabande has never released a full soundtrack (hell at this point I wish they would just hand off the rights to Intrada or LaLaLand) because the original release was so incomplete. A close second on my favorites would have to be Blade Runner. Again, its a damn shame a full version of the score hasn't been released (but then again I can't think of a score with more goddamned bootlegs).
anything by hans zimmer or john williams is usually great also if you know of an old james bond spoof called Casino Royale it's soundtrack was done by Burt Bacharach and played by Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass. It has Peter Sellers and David Niven and Woody Allen in it and is basically "The 1960s: The Movie" it's also what this track comes from (sorry for family guy). rock organs are awesome. if interested the name of the song is "Home James, Don't spare the horses" The semi famous song "the look of love" was written for it as well.
Sunshine - Kanada's Death, pt.2 (Adagio in D Minor)
Lord of the Rings.
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmTz7EAYLrs[/hd] Is worthy of HD tags because LotR.
Angels and Demons, The Terminator, The Godfather, Schindler's List
