• Would new motherboard solve my performance issues?

Hey, long story short, currently have M5A97 R2.0 motherboard with FX-8350. Performance is shit and I can't overclock it as anything over 4.0 Ghz causes PC freeze up completely, basically unstable. I know FX 8350 isn't super CPU but I think I should be able to run Far Cry 4 at stable 60fps with FX-8350, GTX 970 @ 2560x1080 res (on high settings at least, currently I can only achieve that with everything set to low). I am thinking of getting GA-970A-UD3P motherboard, would that solve my issue? Or can somebody recommend better motherboard to overclock FX-8350?
A new motherboard will not solve your performance issues. AMD chips have a lot of low performing cores while Intel has fewer (now about the same with hyper threading) more powerful cores
why would you not be using gpu compute for rendering?
I do, but it's very slow for some reason, almost like it's not using GPU for rendering, it feels like something is dragging whole performance of rendering and games down. All components are quite new except motherboard, so thats one of the main reasons I am considering changing it.

Well, I got pissed off about performance. Ended up selling mobo, CPU, ram all for 180 euro. Ordered: i5 4690k, Gigabyte z97 motherboard and HyperX Fury 16 GB ram kit.
If you're doing rendering work it might be worth it to fork out a little extra for an i7 4790k
