I bet it's still the same old resource-hogging Flash we know and hate the fuck out of.
Any performance benchmarks?
Any performance benchmarks?
Not yet, it was very recent but it runs great for me.
Some benchmarks I ran. E6650 @ 2.3ghz 4 gigs DDR2 800mhz ram 8800 GTS Browser is Google Chrome and the 32 bit version of flash was the latest. http://www.themaninblue.com/experiment/AnimationBenchmark/flash/ 32: 55fps 64: 48 with jumps into the 30's http://themaninblue.com/experiment/AnimationBenchmark/flash/?particles=10000&shadows=true 32: 8.5 64: 8.3-8.6 (not a consistent reading at all) http://www.craftymind.com/factory/guimark2/FlashGamingTest.html 32: 15fps 64: 14-15fps http://www.craftymind.com/factory/guimark2/FlashChartingTest.html 32: 25fps 64: 23-26fps (had to reload for it to work) http://www.craftymind.com/factory/guimark2/FlashTextTest.html 32: 16-18fps 64: 17-18fps (had to reload for it to work) There was a big difference in the tests as far as the fps varying with the 64 bit version. The 32 bit one would stay around the same value, but the 64 bit version did not at all, it skipped all around and was not in the least bit consistent. The last test was the only one that had a true gain in performance as the fps did not drop below 17. But it is a bit odd that I had to reload the page for the last two tests with the 64 bit version and not with the 32. If anyone else gets or doesn't get that issue let post it.
The problem is that the x64 builds of most modern browsers aren't official, in other words, not stable. Then again, I don't see a real reason for browsers to be 64bit, besides that they could cache more stuff in the RAM, which is obsolete to most "normal" users, since I doubt anyone here has his browser opened all day with over 500 tabs. Just because it's 64bit doesn't mean it's faster.
