Oh my here we go again.
I have a feeling it's going to be unbelieveably biased And to the people rating me dumb: FYI what I mean by "unbelievably biased" is that they're very very likely to only interview girls who are having it done to them, and no men from their point of view or anything, just to further increase "believeability" of their cause among those extreme feminists. Personally I think the whole feminism thing is a good cause for equality- But did it really need to be brought into gaming? Everyone throws insults around in gaming like it's nothing because they can and because they're anonymous, not because you're a woman playing the game, I find it annoying how they so strongly believe that. Furthermore comments such as "r u hot?" and "id lik to fuk u hard lolo", etc, really don't occur strictly in gaming between men and women, it might not occur in face-to-face situations as often, but it does occur in alot of other places - Online games are just one of them.
I have a feeling it's going to be unbelieveably biased
Couldn't of said it better myself.
muh privilegs
watch it make forty times what it asked for and only shit out a fifteen-minute trailer in five years [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] I seem to recall another 'grrl gmaers' kickstarter going something like that

Women in gaming. They play games. They develop games. They get harrassed by idiots. Anything else I forgot to add?
Women in gaming. They play games. They develop games. They get harrassed by idiots. Anything else I forgot to add?
The shear number of idiots to be found everywhere, in and out of the industry?
The shear number of idiots to be found everywhere, in and out of the industry?
True that.
Is it only going to be interviews of girls, because that makes it incredibly biased no matter how true what they say is. I want to hear the mens point of view as well. I'm not talking random guys in the crowds, but professional gamers and people working within the field.
I've personally never seen anyone insult girls who play online, unless that girl is kicking their ass then it's probably just trash talk. My older sister plays a lot of online games and I don't think she's ever got a bad pm. Not saying it doesn't exist but I just don't think it's as common as most people make it out to be.

Does your sister have a nickname that implies she is a girl? Because if not, then duh.
Literally any time anybody attempts to address or even talk about the issue of the obvious sexism in the video games industry, FP denies their credibility and, ironically, if they are a woman usually accuses them of attention-seeking or ignorance. Just accept that it's there and that it needs to be confronted. Imagine it was racism of this scale (IE blacks always being shown with big lips and bulging eyes in games).
I think it's more common than you make it out to be. Does your sister have a nickname that implies she is a girl? Because if not, then duh.
Most of them are part of her name and have a heart at the end <3.
Trolling's a part of gaming. Regardless of gender. Roll with it or ignore it.
Who cares if the person you are playing with is a girl or a boy, lol. It's like, people are indifferent but when you say you are a girl suddenly people act way different even though they'll never know you? Why.

A lot of people on here are pro-feminist.
I think it's stupid that girl gamers are getting this sort of special attention. There has always been girl gamers, only now they are giving them this kind of stupid extra publicity. All this shit just makes it seem that girl gamers are somehow supposed to be treated different. NEWS FLASH, you're playing a game, just like anyone else. Being a girl doesn't change jack shit, you're still playing a fucking game. Someone should make a movie about men who enjoy knitting. It would be just as unnecessary and stupid as making a movie about girl gamers.
"I tell people I play videogames for a living and they're impressed, they think it's a dream job, and I get a lot of hate from people" That's not because you're a girl, that's a fairly odd "job" to have and people who judge how xbox live treats them are extremely dumb, females or children or men or whatever they are. Everyone getshate messages on XBL. Are men starting a documentary because people claim to fuck their moms and call them faggots? "How hot are you?" "ure a slut". The one is just a general insult, the other is treating the person as a sexual object and focusing on gender.
No matter how many documentaries you shit out, it won't change that.
That's not the whole point either? It's making people aware that it exists, is a problem and hopefully change the attitude of some individuals. Basically your solution to any problem is not doing anything about it? How do you solve anything at all then?
Most insults are supposed to be as insulting as possible, hence racists and their name calling.
Yes?
congratulations you have taken the point of this equality movement and pretended they were claiming the opposite [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] so lets do nothing!!!
I wonder when did this even become a problem. I've only started to hear about this EQUALITY IN GAMING movement not more than a few months ago. Sounds to me like making a problem out of nothing.

Are there actually girls that are somehow traumatized by the fact that the gaming community consists mostly of males and people say mean things also in the virtual environment?
