There's been some chatter on the internet since a Reddit post went up yesterday claiming that Mel Brooks revealed on Adam Carolla's Take a Knee podcast that he's working on Spaceballs 2 and has approached Rick Moranis to reprise his role in the sequel to the 1987 film. While the original post didn't include a clip or quote from the interview, this wouldn't be the first time Brooks teased the idea of turning Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money into a reality — he told Parade Magazine last year that he would love to do Spaceballs 2 as long as Moranis was willing to come out of retirement for it: "I’ve asked him plenty of times and he’s been really strict about it."
http://splitsider.com/2015/02/mel-brooks-would-do-spaceballs-2-the-search-for-more-money-if-rick-moranis-was-on-board/ Well that made my day to read, even if it doesn't happen.
I seriously hope this happens. Rick Moranis disappeared too soon and if Mel Brooks is making the sequel, I'm completely sure it'll be awesome.

But it's been a while so maybe his kids are old enough now where they wouldn't mind Rick going on for one more flick. Plus hey a new Mel Brooks movie is interesting.
THE SEARCH FOR MORE MONEY
It better feature more of the Asshole family and Michael Winslow being Michael Winslow.
Usually sequels and remakes of old films are difficult to create due to a new audience and new views on comedy films.
Usually sequels and remakes don't involve the original creators. Have faith in Mel.
I would watch it, unless they'll try to just copy themselves into obvilion.
Dang, he still looks great!
THE SEARCH FOR MORE MONEY
they better call it that or i won't watch it
Oh Mel, still got his funny bones!
Would be cool if Bill Pullman played in it too. Sad that Barf's actor died though.

Oh man, I would love another Spaceballs; it just has a certain touch to it that puts it in its own category of popular culture satirical parodies.
Usually sequels and remakes of old films are difficult to create due to a new audience and new views on comedy films.
Especially when gross-out jokes and "awkward" humor is what's en vogue. Brook's wordplay and visual gags are entirely different from today's comedies.
Brooks has been involved with every new production of The Producers, so I think he's fully capable of updating Spaceballs. Most of his films, fundamentally, are satires of some sort, and that never really goes out of fashion as long as there's still something to satirise.

I thought this was the sequel
I thought this was the sequel
you can really feel the 2004 flash animation oozing off this
I couldn't find the clip where Yogurt says "God willing we'll all meet again in Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money" So this clip will have to do instead. God I hope Mel Brooks is still going to be alive so he can write and/or direct this! Seriously, this man is a living badass. Here's an account from TV Tropes "And lastly, he is a retired badass World War II vet who used to defuse Nazi landmines for the Allied Forces. Then at the Battle of the Bulge, when the Nazis set up loud speakers to play Fascist Propaganda at the Allies, Brooks set up his own loud speakers and played the works of Jewish musical artist Al Jolson right back at them. He was making fun of Nazis back when they were still relevant ...and lived. It's good to be the king, indeed."
It astounds me how many people hate this film. Easily one of my favorite comedies.
Where have you been reading hate for it? This is news to me.
Everyone's gunning on Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money but my favorite remains "Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2"
I want my jews in space
Where have you been reading hate for it? This is news to me.
hey there (I don't like the film and think it's bad, but if you like it that's cool since I have nothing against people liking stuff I don't like)
hey there (I don't like the film and think it's bad)
hey there (you're wrong) In all seriousness though, if I had never seen it as a kid and watched it for the first time today I'd probably think it's dumb. A lot of the jokes haven't aged well.

I was thinking the cringey jokes like "Either it's the 4th of July, OR SOMEBODY'S TRYING TO KILL US!" but I suppose those were never funny to begin with.
