I've never done any of this Jailbreaking stuff but I heard you could do a lot with it so I went ahead and tried. I followed this tutorial and it worked perfect. I had the 3.1.3 software so I downgraded to 3.1.2. So I went ahead and got Winterboard and installed a theme. Everything was working and it was going great until I restarted my iPod because it was going kind of slow. Now when I turn it on it shows the Apple logo and turns back off. I can't restore it if it won't even boot up can I? Is there a way to fix it or am I pretty screwed?
Edit:
I fixed it sorry
It's practically impossible to brick an ipod touch. when you connect it to your computer does the computer recognize it or not? If it does then just restore the firmware in itunes. Restore to 3.1.2 and then use blackra1n to jailbreak it.
No it doesn't show up in iTunes. Like I said it doesn't even boot fully just shows the Apple logo and turns off.

most likely the battery is dead. leave it plugged in for a few hours then try restoring through itunes. Use this guide to put it in DFU mode so that itunes recognizes that it needs to be restored:

Oh wait, I didn't know about the emergency restore feature. Nevermind sorry.

Soooo... Did you get it fixed?

Yeah I held the power and lock button down for a bit and it went to restore mode.
It's battery was full (it was plugged up)

Ok good, Just restore to 3.1.2 and then use blackra1n and you should have a smooth jailbreak.
Are you actually able to downgrade a 3.1.3 iPt without having jailbroken it first and got the SHSHs?

Yep, sure are. Worked for me at least :).
Uhh, You do realize that if you jailbreak with 3.1.2 and blackra1n then you have a TETHERED jailbreak. It's SUPPOSED to do that, you have to run blackra1n again everytime you turn it off.
I used blackra1n to jailbreak my 3.1.2 iPod touch and I dont have to run blackra1n every time it boots :/
I do. How did you get an untethered jailbreak. :(
My model number starts with MB.
I just restored the firmware to 3.1.2 and ran blackra1n, maybe I got a different result because of different hardware? Mine is a 1g iPod touch. Which idevice do you have?
2nd gen, That probably explains it.

No. Apple stopped signing 3.1.2 around the beginning of feb.

No, it's supposed to come up with the connect to iTunes image, not turn itself off.

Yeah I was aware of that, which is why I was somewhat skeptical of his claim.
If it does go slow just install SBSettings, then open it (slide your finger across the top status bar) and press processes, then press 'FREE UP MEMORY'. Works a charm.
Rubber, that's more placebo than actual legitimate speed difference.
Regardless, if it shows "connect to iTunes", all you have to do is use blackra1n on it again and all should be well.

Not true, I believe on the 3g models if you have 3.1.2 it will be tethered. Otherwise on the 2g and 1g models with 3.1.2 it won't be tethered. Don't hold me on that though.

If the model number begins with MC, it'll be tethered.

It actually does work, i rarely experience slowdowns anyway, but when games and stuff are slow to startup i just free up memory and it goes back to norm.
You can still downgrade a 3.1.3 iPod Touch with an MC serial, i have done mine. Just download the iPod Touch 2g not 3g 3.1.2 firmware.

Only if you have an 8GB 3G, which is just a 2G.
