My dad was a Jagged Alliance veteran and said he couldn't stand playing Back in Action. What's so different?

They changed it from a Turn based game to a real time, some people didn't really like that change

A real-time game with a pause system, that is.
I hated Back in Action at first but after learning how to work past its quirks, it's actually pretty fun.
they patched it now and it's an ok game, but the AI is so bad and so is the pathfinding, i also can't stand how you have to tell your mercs to do basically everything, even if you put them on "guard mode" they'll only start shooting at enemies when they are like at 5 meters infront of them

Basically the problem is that despite the game technically taking place in real-time, it's still a turn-based game at heart. Nothing is automated at all. You have to tell your mercs to do every tiny little thing, meaning you have to pause and issue orders ever second or two.

Even Guard Mode is more of a slight safety net than actual automation... if you issue an order to shoot, the delay before the shot happens is shorter than it would be if the same shot were made in Guard Mode.
i wish they kept the turn system as an option then id buy it
not saying the real time system is bad but turns are better for games like JA
