I see commercials for commemorative mint coins all the time, and they advertise that the coin is "14g of 14karat gold" with a ".9999 1oz silver inlay piece".. They sell these coins for 29.99 a piece. What baffles me, being an avid investor in silver and other precious metals, is that this coin is being sold for less than it's worth on the precious metal market. 1oz of silver should be ~30 USD. That's all fine and good, but that would mean that they are selling these coins for the silver value and negating the supposed "gold" that is included. That much gold would be nearly half an ounce. That's potentially hundreds of dollars. What gives?
Good question someone answer it!!!
go make a bunch of money buying these coins and selling the gold. when someone complains sue the commercial company that would work, right? right?
Maybe it's just plated, so it's less silver and gold than it appears?
