what's the main difference in Dune's Extended vs Normal Dune 80's Movie ( also never saw it so please no spoiler's )
Both, if you want a close look at Stings package.
Honestly though, either one is completely baffling for most people who haven't read the book so it's a choice between being confused for two hours or three hours.
is it less or more conduesd than 2001.?
I'd say less, but only because 2001 was almost an abstract impression of the book it's based on. In fact it's based on a short story, but Stanley Kubrick doesn't do short.
In all honesty, if you watch the movie you'll understand perfectly who are the bad guys, who are the good guys, what their beef is with each other etc. It's the universe the story is set in which is dense and detailed almost beyond the capability of film to replicate, so you might be a little lost as to why everyone ignores laser weaponry and nuclear technology in favour of sword-fighting, or what that freaking massive fleshy thing is doing floating in a tank of water on the deck of the spaceship. But that just gives you a reason to read the book!
Yeah, I'd read the book first. I recently watched the film and was so confused I stopped 10 minutes before it was done. Kinda regret not reading the book first.
