I have no idea how to feel about this. After DA2 and ME3...

Hopefully it will have better writing
, we want to give fans what they're asking for--a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral."
Uh huh, I'm betting you won't.
"The Dragon Age team has been working on Dragon Age 3: Inquisition for almost two years now,"
The game will use DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, and is expected to come out in late 2013.
Well that's more than double the 16 months that Dragon Age 2 got, so that's a good start.
I'm interested to see how it'll turn out with the Frostbite engine.

buzzwords ahoy
and connecting directly with our fans.
Reading the official Bioware forums doesn't count.
I have no idea how to feel about this. After DA2 and ME3...
There was nothing wrong with ME3 despite the ending which was fixed.
I played Delta Force, Rogue Spear... so when someone is talking about Dragon Age... swords and fantasy, and says Tactical combat.... I don't understand
This will be the first RPG on the frostbite engine right? Should be interesting.
There was nothing wrong with ME3 despite the ending which was fixed.
It wasn't really fixed. But I agree that it was great game despite it's ending.

It was a very good game, but "nothing wrong?" Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
I hope it has this as voiced dialog option.
If "I want to be dragon" and "I'm hungry" shit won't be present in Inquisition, I'd say it would be a success.
And Frostbite 2, well why I'm not surprised? ShithEAds want to use it on every game. And plus another one of the BioWare's features (making their own engines) is ruined.
Although... just fuck this, bring me back Leliana so I could have lesbian sex with her again.
I didn't expect this.
Just keep the DA:O engine and upgrade it and keep the tactical combat from DA:O and I'll buy ten copies.

Because Bioware totally created Unreal Engine 3 for the Mass Effect series, right? :v:
If they go back to the gameplay of DA:O then I would buy it in a heartbeat.
ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh
they've got a good amount of time to make a game with but I dunno, there sure are a lot of buzzwords here and I'm naturally feeling pretty pessimistic
think I'll need to see what happens

The start of using third-party engines dates to 2007, yes. I wasn't talking about that. I was saying that BioWare no longer making their own engines. And both DAs had BW's Eclipse and Lycium engines.

Which is fair, but engine creation has never been Bioware's strength, while storytelling/characterization has. If the story/characters are good, they could use CryEngine 3 for all I care.

Please? Can we please?
Could this please be the actual intent and execution, not just buzz?

Well, one day it was a really good side of BioWare. Just remember what games were being made on the Infinity Engine. Then what engine CD Projekt used as basis for The Witcher 1's engine. What engine Obsidian used for NWN2. Now no need to fuck about it, EA will just give BioWare the mainstream UE3/Frostbite 2.

I'm sorry, but I'm just not seeing why this is a bad thing. Creation of a game engine takes a LOT of time and money, and it gets to be that licensing another engine is the more appealing option. Frostbite 2 and UE3 are very good engines when utilized well, so it makes sense to use them rather than trying to re-invent the wheel. Remember, the average gamer probably couldn't care less what engine a game is using so long as it runs well and doesn't look like ass. Whether or not the engine is 'mainstream' is irrelevant so long as it works.
Well, this new DA currently has a longer development time then DA2.
I can only hope it will go back to the roots of DAO. If not I'll just give up completely on bioware and DA series.
DAO was one of the best RPG's I've played in a long time. So good I got like 3-4 characters with 50+ hours on them each. DA2 i didn't even complete because it was so terrible.
Hopefully they don't develop it like Mass Effect 3, where the writers choose most of the dialogue. Dialogue just kept happening in ME3 whether I liked it or not, I didn't get a choice in most of the conversations.
Being in production for 2 years sounds promising tbh

cool I can't wait for none of this to happen
Over two years in development and it will still have day one DLC they couldn't include in the game (but still included on disc) due to "time constraints".
