Well, I'm getting atleast $350 for christmas, and I really want something I use the internet on, and listen to music and stuff. I don't want a phone, or an iPad. (No integrated gfx(intel), if that's possible.)
how about this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220853 $340, only thing I don't like is Windows 7 starter this one has Windows 7 Home Premium but it's $400, but it has a higher resolution screen and 2GB RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152208

Multitasking is not their thing, unless you get one of the dual core ones and even then it's pretty pathetic. As far as I can tell, you'd be running a Browser, a music player, and maybe an email client at once. Oh, more likely is replacing the email client with Steam. Of course, there might be a couple other programs, but I'd never see myself using more than 3 at once.
