Hello Facepunchers! I was in two minds whether to buy a PC or to build one. I originally decided to buy a pre made one from a store as I know very little about computers but my friend changed my mind as he said "you would be better off building your own" and if I ran into troubble he would help me out. The delivery arrived today and following youtube tutorials I was able to install the CPU and fan. I am having a bit of difficulty with the RAM, it wont fit in. Does this mean my friend chose the wrong RAM, if so can I get a refund and is everything else that he chose compatible? http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/ddfa522dc4be438da526cab54a279960
You need DDR3 RAM. That is really old RAM. And that's a terrible build.

That build is VERY bad. I am serious. Look at the CPU, now to the GPU. They are absolutely unbalanced. Only 512MB of RAM, that isn't even DDR3? Is your friend 11 too?

That type of RAM was used back in 90s. That motherboard needs DDR3 that has 240 pins. Also micro ATX case and ATX motherboard, those won't go together. Also Laptop HDD and Optical drive? Hmm i doubt that PSU is even able to give half of it's promised power output without shitting itself and that graphics card will be horrible if you plan doing gaming. You could've gotten maybe an Intel I5 2500k build with that budget or atleast some nice AMD almost equivalent build.
