I recently tried to play TF2 on my desktop which has ran like a champ for about a year or so now. Then last night I had a big Graphics error in game, it was late so I thought nothing of it shut off the pc and went to bed. I got up today and powered up the PC ready to help in the TF2 Demo vs Soldier war and when I started up TF2 I again had a pretty bad graphic error. This time however I tried to end the hl2.exe in the task manager and I noticed my whole desktop had a huge graphic error.
At the moment I have run windows in safe mode and ran AVG to see if there is any problems. But so far it hasn't found anything and I'm not sure what is to blame. So if anyone could help that'd be great.
PS here is a picture of the graphics error in game

Does it just occur with TF2?
Try reinstalling it, also update your graphics drivers.
Problem is I can't do much the computer just lags up so much. Yeah it just occured with TF2 but now it's happening even on the desktop.

Shut pc down and let it cool for 15 minutes. If the problem is gone you might be overheating (see if it returns when you play a game)
Check your fans if this is the case.
Yeah it does, I let it cool. The graphic errors seems to be gone from the desktop but still occurs almost instant when I turn on a game. Although I don't think it's overheating, my computer told me it's running at like 30-40 degrees Celsius. I got an error though last time about an n4 or nv4 had crashed and on reboot it would give me the option to tell MS the problem but it lagged too much for me to get to reboot it.
Them thar be video artifacts.
Probably due to your videocard being worked a bit too hard causing it to overheat. You should try lowering your tf2's graphics settings or making sure your drivers are up to date.

Pc can be cold while your GPU is hot.
What gpu do you have?
My graphics card can do much better than TF2, it's an 8800 GTX. I've been playing TF2 for a good while now and by a while I mean 7 months + on high, so I really doubt I'm labouring my GPU.

You are probably overheating it.
-Check the fan and the temperatures.
-Check the clocks
-Update drivers
-Smash it with a hammer.
I updated the drivers but it didn't help. Tomorrow I think I'll get it checked by my uncle, if it's a hardware problem then I'm going to buy my new GPU early.
EDIT- If anyone could help me with finding a motherboard sutiable for an nVida Geforce 280 and Intel i7 processor and the ability to be upgraded to past 4gb of DDR3 RAM that'd be really helpful.
Make a thread in PC building, and people will gladly help.
I did, no one helped.

Ah the second link is good, but the PC I'd go for is like the second one in the high end list, and it has dual GFX and the problem with that is that according to some research I done the keyboard I'm getting has problems with duel SLI.

Dual SLI I hope you mean 2 cards with 2 gpu's on them.
Annyways why would a keyboard have problems with that?
And you should just get another keyboard then.
I already ordered it, and yes that's what I mean rofl. It's a G19.

Any source on that problem? Don't believe evrything you read on the internet.
Can't find it any more, no worries anyway a few people I know have it now and said it's great so, I ordered it.
No,no,no.
Your GPU is pulling on your molex conducter, its tearign off the rubber insulater and shorting out your card
